@redsmarties: Thanks for the feedback! This is what I did when we moved into our house 2 years ago - you are right it was SUCH a big project but such a good payout for the price ($100 in materials and $100 in new hardware).

Now we are looking at actually replacing all the door fronts since our cabinets are totally flat (no dimension) and look so dated! We already did the granite counters so we are hoping this could be a reasonably cheap way to finish the upgrade!

I don't know the difference between refinishing and refacing, so sorry if this is totally irrelevant.
We bought a house in Feb, and the cabinets were all standard builders-oak (a honey colour). We sanded lightly, used TSP to strip the finish, and then stained them with a gel stain product that went on SO easily. We then polyurethane-coated them. It was a BIG project (took us a few weeks), but it only cost around $100. I can give you more details and photos if this is the right process, haha!

Just wondering if anyone out there has ever refaced their kitchen cabinets? If so, how was the experience and results? Also - would love to know size and cost of refacing if you are comfortable sharing that...

DH and I are considering this for our kitchen and starting to do some research!
