I don't worry about it. I was never a huge caffeine drinker and drank caffeine throughout my pregnancy so DS was exposed to it before birth.

@grizz: No need to be that cautious (although do what you're comfortable with!). I drank caffeine with (somewhat) reckless abandon to survive on practically no sleep. If it had bothered my LO I would have found an alternative, but she always seemed to be fine.

I drink a big cup in the morning and lo nurses about an hour later. I think you're fine to have more, but it depends on your LO I guess. I'd try it and see what happens, that's the only way to know for sure.

LO doesn't seem to be bothered at all by my caffeine intake, so I don't avoid it! It really seems to depend on the baby.

After DD was 2 months and I was EPing, I was drinking 2+ cups of coffee a day. I don't think it affected her at all. She even STTN!

Xander doesn't seem affected by caffeine, so I don't avoid it at all! I have a big coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon, and sometimes a soda at night!

Depends on your baby. Some it doesn't bother and some (mine...yay) it does. If you've been able to have coffee and then nurse without ill-effect you should be fine.

Do any of you avoid caffeine while pumping? Or wait a certain amount of time to have it before you pump?

DS doesn't sleep much, and I work in a BUSY emergency room. I need my caffeine! I've just been limiting to a teeny cup of coffee right when I get to work so i have 3 hours before I pump. Do I need to be so cautious?
