I went to one a few weeks ago and they had bakery donuts arranged on a tired serving tray, a cinnamon roll casserole, fruit, a savory egg/potato dish, coffee and juice/mimosas. If you make a “cake” out of other foods (donuts, crumb cake, cupcakes, etc) you could skip it, but I’d much rather have a slice of cake than a fancy donut.
