@regberadaisy: Yea it's a form of molasses. It's the end result after all the sugar has been extracted from sugar cane.

ETA: I was wrong before. We have both Brer Rabbit blackstrap and "full flavor" molasses in the cupboard. I grabbed the full flavored the first time which is 10% calcium. Our blackstrap bottle says 20%. :)

What about fortified almond or other nut/rice milks? I'm not sure exactly about the calcium content compared to cows milk but I know they do have some calcium.

We give LO okra. It's supposed to be a very good source of calcium when it comes it veggies.

Okra had 8% calcium/serving where kale has 10%. The brand of blackstrap molasses we have also says 10%.

@mrsjazz: @autumnlove: oh thanks ladies! We eat those a lot for the iron content but never thought of the calcium portion. Cool!

@regberadaisy: I second the kale! (And other leafy greens such as collards and mustard greens). I've been making pesto for LO since she started refusing to eat her leafy greens. You could blend up some kale and cheese (will she eat the cheese if it's hidden?). I use hummus instead of nuts to thicken it. Broccoli has calcium.

Blackstrap molasses has both iron and calcium--I haven't been able to find some yet and have been too lazy to head to Whole Foods.

LO is starting to refuse her milk. What calcium rich foods besides yogurt and cheese do you give?
She's not a fan of cheese and already eats a lot of yogurt.
