Oh, Monterey is so nice! Tahoe is also great in late spring, and you can stay really cheap at the casinos or by renting out a cabin.

We did a day trip to Morro Bay, Cambria, and Moonstone Beach once, it was beautiful! We even got to see sea otters just off the big rock at Morro Bay. I'd love to do that trip again, so romantic and relaxing!

@deerylou: I just bought a living social deal for Lake Tahoe. We will be spending 5 says 4 night, for $200. At Base Camp hotel. We are celebrating our 3 year anniversary and a very early baby moon.

Maybe it's too far but if we can afford it we're planning on baby mooning in Orange County. I loved it there the one time I visited.

We stayed at the Anton Inn in Pacific Grove, really liked it. Also, the Dulce Hayes Mansion is lovely. There are a lot of great hotels in San Jose that are relatively inexpensive. Some Saturday nights the Fairmont is less than $100, which is amazing. If you do Napa area, ride the Wine Train. We've done it twice and loved it both times, didn't drink either time.

@shopaholic: DH works near Monterey, so we're definitely looking into it. My parents were married in Carmel, and I've always loved the town.

I am automatically drawn to wine country, but I don't think I would have too much fun there, pregnant. Too much amazing wine to be tempted by! ;)

We didn't baby moon there but we did spend the weekend in Monterey a few years ago. It was so nice and relaxing... I've been wanting to do that again! There's also Carmel, Hearst Cstle. I've also been wanting to check out mill valley.

DH and I weren't initially planning on a babymoon. We've been pretty persistent about saving up for our impending hospital deductible (don't even get me started), and preparing for the prospect of me going part-time at work, post-baby.

However, we would love to at least take a long weekend, and just spend some quality time together before baby arrives, early July.

We live on the Central Coast in Northern California, and would like to do something in the semi nearby area within the next month, or so. Did anyone here honeymoon or babymoon in northern or central California, and have any recommendations? We're looking to keep it relatively simple, and affordable, so an $800 a night suite is not going to be in our budget.

Thanks, in advance!
