@Ajsmommy: I hear you on feeling like things are moving quickly. I started with an RE in July, found out I have a very low AMH (though fine FSH), so we jumped into femara/ovidrel/IUIs. We ended up paying $1600 for a package of 3, plus meds. They didn't work, so we are gearing up for IVF. I'd said I'd never do IVF, but when faced with IVF or not having kids, things seemed more real and I changed my mind.

@Ajsmommy: That is pretty fast. A lot to take in at once!

We talked about treatments at all of my initial appointments so we knew what to expect. I'll be doing a similar cycle like yours in January, except mine is with Femara instead of Clomid. I'm not too happy because I didn't respond to Femara at all with my first RE but my new one refuses to go to straight to injectibles for a cycle. I'm hoping the follistim at the end will help.

@KT326: so lucky you were on the same page!! I think maybe you are right.... That knowing ahead of time might help. I think part of his issue is how FAST its happening. Only bc I was cd4 at our appt. Had I been further we would have had days or even weeks to absorb it all.... But we went from 0-60 over night

@Ajsmommy: Luckily DH and I are on the same page when it comes to cost. We know we want to expand our family and will do what it takes to make that happen. It also helps that we've known about my infertility from the beginning. Going into marriage knowing we will probably have to shell out thousands for a baby helped lessen the blow!

Revisiting this post because I am now armed with more info!

So all of our tests came back normal except my low egg reserve.

We had our apt on cd4 and RE suggested we to clomid/follistim and trigger (not sure I am getting that all right! it's A LOT of info to take in really quickly!) but I am taking 2 clomid pills each night for 5 days, then I do 2 days of injections.

I started clomid last night 100 mg/day for cd5 - cd9, monitoring apt on cd12 to see how I am responding.

We had some bumps with the financial part of it bc the dr originally said that they'd get this "treatment" covered as diagnostic but then the next morning finance told us it wouldn't be covered. DH was not too happy about that as we have already incurred about $3k

he wants to have a talk about how much exactly we will be willing to put out for this journey... yikes.....

did any of you have reservations about the cost? or your DH? how did you work it all out?

What tests did you have done? Cycle day 3 bloodwork, regular baseline bloodwork (CBC, Chem Panel, Thyroid), cycle day 3 ultrasound, HSG and Semen Analysis

What were those results (by test, include FSH levels, AMH levels, progesterone and anything else that RE's focus on)?
I don't remember the specific levels, but every single thing was within normal limits.

What were you diagnosed with/if anything? Unexplained.

What was the treatment or plan to over come any diagnosis?
We tried 4 IUIs, 3 with clomid. These were unmonitored because I did them with a midwife (long story of fertility clinic basically refusing to work with us...gay and using a sperm donor wasn't what they were used to) but I'm confident in our timing. My cycles are super regular and I had very textbook ovulation symptoms that lined up perfectly with the OPKs.

What was the final outcome? Well, I hope this isn't discouraging. I don't doubt that I could get pregnant, maybe through IVF, if I kept trying. Maybe it just needed more time. We tried for 12 straight cycles with zero BFPs. All while tracking, temping, monitoring CM, etc. We had good timing on all 12 of those cycles. We decided after a couple of months off from trying, that we were going to pursue the foster care system and hope to foster to adopt an infant. We are well aware we might not get to keep the first or second or third infant we foster, but are hoping that eventually we will get to adopt one. This sounds very likely given the stories I've heard about others who have done this in our county. In the meantime, we will be caring for and loving infants who really need it. We originally thought we'd keep TTC while we started the foster process, but it became clear that we would need to really commit to it fully, and that's when we decided to stop trying. We may try again at some point in the future, but for now we are 100% dedicated to being amazing foster moms to needy infants and we can't wait to meet the babies we get to love! We are a couple of months into the process and are moving along quickly now, so I'm guess it won't be more than a couple more months until we're licensed.

What tests did you have done? ive done so many tests i cant remember but my Fertility Doc has been monitoring my cycles and says that we should be able to conceive naturally...

What were those results - everything was normal except I had water in my tubes.

Diagnosis- unknown/ water blockage in left tube & scar tissue near right ovary

What was the treatment or plan to over come any diagnosis? had laproscopy to remove scar tissue and try to release some of the water from my tubes....funny thing is the dye test worked and they say everything is coming through so the water in my left tube isnt that big of an issue??!?!? my new Doc says that we should be able to conceive naturally...been trying with his help for almost a year now. we start IUI with clomid in january for 6 rounds and then move on to IVF i may ask Dr if he can give me more then one medication to try and help the issue as ive only taken clomid and progesterone with no success.

What was the final outcome? so far 2 CP, 1 miscarriage, for the last year of working with our fertility Dr we have not had a BFP stick yet :( we are hoping IUI will work in January.

What tests did you have done? I did blood tests and a saline ultrasound after about 5 months of trying to conceive with no success.

What were those results (by test, include FSH levels, AMH levels, progesterone and anything else that RE's focus on)? My FSH was 12.72 and my AMH was 0.79. Everything else came back normal.

What were you diagnosed with/if anything? I have a diminished ovarian reserve.

What was the treatment or plan to over come any diagnosis? My RE told me that I had a 1-3% chance to conceive naturally, a 4-5% with a medicated IUI cycle, and a 40% chance with IVF. Our plan was to change insurance in January and go straight to IVF (given the odds we were given, that seemed to make the most sense). I also decided to try an eastern medicine / holistic approach and was seeing an acupuncturist and was on a special diet that my acupuncturist put me on while waiting for my new insurance to kick in come January 1st (also took 600 mg of CoQ10 daily and tried to exercise at least 3 times per week).

What was the final outcome? I surprisingly became naturally pregnant a few weeks ago and am about 6 weeks along now. I'm still pretty worried about my egg quality as I did have one miscarriage in June but I'm trying my best to be optimistic. If this isn't meant to be, though, I'll jump right back into the IVF plan. This was our 11th month of trying.

We are starting to TTC#2 and I have to redo all my testing (it's been over 4 years).

What tests did you have done? All the standard blood tests, HSG. Will be repeating all the tests this month.

What were those results (by test, include FSH levels, AMH levels, progesterone and anything else that RE's focus on)? HSG was clear, blood tests normal

What were you diagnosed with/if anything? Two RE's diagnosed me as unexplained, my current RE says it is PCOS

What was the treatment or plan to over come any diagnosis? For our first, we did 4 rounds with Clomid and timed intercourse, 2 rounds of Femara and timed intercourse. We then moved to our second RE and did two rounds of IUI with injectibles. Now that we are looking to start TTC#2, our current RE (third one I've seen) wants us to start with Femara+injectible and IUI.

What was the final outcome? We were successful with our second IUI with injectibles and have a 3.5 year old.

What tests did you have done?
I think the usual - bloodwork, HSG, semen sample.

What were those results (by test, include FSH levels, AMH levels, progesterone and anything else that RE's focus on)?
all normal, tubes clear, sperm count was sort of low but nothing too concerning. DH took fertility for men from GNC and I think that increased his count.

What were you diagnosed with/if anything? Unexplained - most frustrating

What was the treatment or plan to over come any diagnosis?
We did IUIs with clomid and ovidrel in some cycles. The last cycle we did follistrom+ovidrel+iui. It was our last IUI before we'd considered moving on to IVF.

What was the final outcome? BFP in late Oct '13 - we've been trying off and on since 2012. DS born on July 4, 2014.

Oh man, ok.

What tests did you have done? I did a monitored cycle with all my levels tested, AMH, 4 SHGs, thyroid, semen analysis, and all sorts of blood tests for other things that I don't remember (I went once and had 17 vials of blood taken)

Diagnosis? High FSH, low AMH, DOR, arcuate uterus (my first two doctors said this wasn't an issue, third suggested surgery to correct)

What was the treatment or plan to over come any diagnosis? I had a hysteroscopy/laporoscopy to correct the arcuate uterus and check for asymptomatic endo, and another hysteroscopy the next year to more completely resect the uterus, did 8 medicated IUIs and 2 IVFs.

What was the final outcome? A son, who is almost 2. Also I think that the arcuate uterus was a significant issue in my fertility problems because I'm now 24 weeks pregnant with a baby conceived naturally.

Testing: AMH (1.73), FSH (6.7), TSH (3.38), ultrasound (clear), SHG (clear). I also had ovulation testing (CD3 LH: 5.35, CD14 LH: 38.97, CD14 estradiol: 321.48, CD21 progesterone: 14.33). My DH had a semen analysis and a follow up exam by a urologist.

Diagnosis: Me: hypothyroidism, DH: Unexplained poor sperm count and quality (8.4 million/ml with 3% morphology).

Treatment plan: My OB had me on Clomid because of my short LP, but my RE doesn't believe short LP is an issue, so she took me off. She put me on synthroid for my hypothyroidism. Plan was supposed to be 2 unmedicated IUIs followed by IVF with ICSI - I got pregnant the cycle before my treatment was to start.

Testing: I had FSH, AMH, thyroid, ultrasound, HSG, Semen analysis, saline uterine ultrasound

Diagnosis: low AMH (.7) high FSH (11), DOR (with suspected poor egg quality due to back to back losses)

Treatment plan: originally we wanted to try injectable a with IUI, with the intention of moving to IVF fairly quickly because of my age,but I decided to try clomid first and responded well so we stuck with that. I did 1 unsuccessful IUI and then a timed intetcourse cycle with clomid, trigger injection, and progesterone, and that one worked. I had three follicles release that cycle but only one implanted successfully. We were supposed to start IVF the next cycle!

I'll start:
What tests did you have done?
I've had ultrasound, day 3 blood work, HSG and we're waiting on DH's semen

What were those results (by test, include FSH levels, AMH levels, progesterone and anything else that RE's focus on)?
Ultrasound, showed healthy uterus /tubes and ovaries. I had 9 follicles.
Day 3 blood work, all normal accept an elevated FSH which was 12.3
HSG and that was normal/good too

What were you diagnosed with/if anything?
Nothing yet, but my FSH means DOR

What was the treatment or plan to over come any diagnosis?
Will have apt with DR to go over everything once DH's semen sample is done on 12/7

What was the final outcome?
TBD

I am currently in the prelim testing zone and have had my ultrasound, bloodwork and HSG.

I have been googling and searching blogs/boards for posts regarding this stuff and thought I'd start a new one for us who are going through it now, those who have gone through it and those who will go through it in the future to share info.

I'm extremely curious to hear about what your initial tests showed, any diagnosis and what the final plan and outcome were.

So if you've got any experience to share:
