I have a 5ft table that I scored for $5 at an office sale. I put my rotary mat on that. It's so much easier! I use a 6"x24" quilter's ruler to cut my fabric with the rotary cutter.

If you want the table like at JoAnn's, they are pretty expensive. Cutting with a mat and ruler is much more precise. It's what they do at quilt and fabric shops (not JoAnn/Hobby Lobby/Walmart/Hancocks).

I'm not super helpful because I'm not a pro, but I've had great luck with my rotary cutter and mat, as well!

I cut all my patterns with a rotary cutter on the floor. Not ideal, but I dont have space for a big table. I am not very good and folding fabric for a straight cut. But the rotary cutter is still better then scissors....

@Jackiedavis87: It took me quite a while to get comfortable with folding and cutting. I would love to have one of those tables with the space for scissors too!

@LindsayLou: lol I have that exact set! Well it sounds like what I need to be doing is watching tutorials on folding.

@MaryM: I second this. It makes cutting so much easier. I have a set similar to this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000B7K9UI/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1462486015&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=fiskars+cutting+mat&dpPl=1&dpID=51pC%2BGZXOxL&ref=plSrch

It takes a bit of practice folding large pieces of fabric to get them cut straight, but it's well worth it.

@MaryM: yes I actually have both, and it is what I'm using now. 😊I was just thinking if I had the table with the scissor slot that would be even easier.

Have you tried using a rotary cutter and mat?

http://www.sew4home.com/sites/sewmk.mervideo.com/files/images/articles/0393-hand_position_on_cutter-7_b.jpg

That's a whole lot easier than scissors for most things

Ok ladies I love to sew, but I suck with cutting the fabric and such, probably because I'm trying to do it on the kitchen floor. I'm looking for a sewing table, specifically one that has a slot where you slide the scissors through, and a yard stick ingrained. Pretty much I'm looking for the table that hobby lobby uses to cut fabric lol. Any suggestions or links where I could find one? Or any recommendations? TIA
