@ Mrs. Cowgirl I know! I almost wish we just did it during the day, but I guess doing it from 1-9 helps all the working parents. Every slot I had was FILLED.

Nothing crazy happened to me, but a woman tried telling my coworker that the way we teach freshmen how to write a paragraph is wrong, and it's too stifling etc etc. She just wouldn't stop being rude about it! One other parent (of my coworker's student) didn't even talk about her kid...she just cried about her divorce. How sad!

9:00pm?!??? We stay until 7 pm and I think that's super late.

Today we saw a play and one if my students tooted in the quietest part and it was completely on purpose. That's gross, but what was funny is that Hubby and another student got so tickled by it they almost had to walk out.

That's a story I bet you didn't think you would hear.

@mrs. cowgirl how cute! The guy who taught across the hall from me had 1/2 grade and they were suspicious that we were secretly married. So funny!

Oh my gosh I absolutely dreaded those. Most of mine were either the "is-my-child-being-challenged-in-your-class?" types or the slackerish no-show type. I co-taught and one year I had a partner who liked to go on and on about how wonderful the kids were--stuff I knew wasn't completely accurate--so the parents would like her. I felt like the bad guy if I said anything was less than stellar.

Can't remember anything too funny. Once a mom asked me if all the girls in my class wore heels (5th grade) because her daughter had said she wanted to because everyone else did. Of course I told her no they didn't and then she was asking me for advice on whether or not to let her wear heels!!

Hope you have a good night!!

omg! they ask you to stay until 9! whoa. we have our conferences next week on monday and tuesday during our teacher workdays, which are typically our normal hours.

hmm...funny stories? i once had a parent tell me at the conference that her daughter kept trying to be my matchmaker. (this was before i was married) they said she would tell single male friends of theirs how nice and pretty she thought i was. she was in first grade. :) it was hilarious!

Hey all,

I'm stuck in the midst of my 8 hour parent teacher conference block. Any teachers out there with some great conference stories or fun ways to last the night?

We had school until 12:15 today and then conferences from 1-9pm. Nothing funny yet, but I'm hoping for a good story!
