I could totally see how this could happen. Also, pain and pleasure are not always so far away from each other as both are intense experiences. I bet a lot of it has to do with how you think about the birth experience and frame it for yourself.</p> <p>I didn't get close to pleasure, but it painful is not exactly the right word either. It was so much work, really the hardest thing I have done and it was A LOT for my body to handle. But I knew that what was happening was right, and ok. My second labor was about 2 hours of real pain/labor, so I don't need a lot of help with the fast labors anyways, it would seem, but I can see how helping yourself open up a bit would be beneficial.
