I've been having an itchy eye for months now so I'm not one to follow my own advice but I'd get it checked.

Could be pink eye or a scratch on your cornea. I would go to the eye doctor (ophthalmologist) asap. I don't mess with my eye health. In college I had an eye infection once that lasted forever!

I think it sounds like something is in your eye, but I would try to get it looked at as soon as possible.

It sounds like you might have something in your eye. Has it been windy there? Could you have gotten a speck of dirt embedded in your cornea? I've had that a few times and the optometrist has usually been able to get it out without trouble. I did have to go to the eye hospital one time but I can't remember exactly why. With two of the times, it just felt like I had a little something in my eye, the third time I had no idea, it was just noticed when I went in for a normal eye appt.

ETA: if you have access to an ophthalmologist, I'd go there - I just went to an optometrist as I was in Australia and didn't want the hassle of going to the GP to get a referral to an ophthalmologist etc.

Normally, I would say eye doctor, but you might want a medical doctor or an ophthalmologist (not optometrist) to look at it.

Doesn't really sound like pink eye to me. Have you tried putting a hot compress on it? Quite hot, every few hours?

Last night, my eye felt a little irritated, and the inner corner was looking a little red. Woke up this morning - same thing. As the day is progressing, it's getting redder and redder and itchier and itchier. If I rub it (which I'm trying VERY hard not to do, and washing my hands immediately afterwards), it feels like ground glass or sand is in there.

My coworker thinks I have pink eye. D has been out of daycare all week with bronchitis, so he hasn't been exposed. I haven't been around anyone with it. But I do work in a hospital, so I suppose anything is possible.

So what do I do? Call my doctor? Call my eye doctor? Wait it out?
