I did not and my kids won't as well. Not only am I not a fan of it, we don't have any close enough friendships and we have a large enough family that they aren't missing out on having actual aunts and uncles around.

My G'ma and Papa's best friends were our honorary "Aunt Ginny and Uncle Alan", but that was it. Some good friends of ours call us Aunt and Uncle.
Honestly, though, my husband isn't a fan. My best friend refers to herself as "Aunt" and it really irritates him. I think mostly because his sister is dead, so the idea of someone else being called Aunt bothers him. Also, he remembers certain people being fake Aunts and Uncles when he was a kid and found it very confusing.

Most were just Mr. or Mrs. Lastname. The only one we called Aunt was my mom's best friend from grade school. And only because she insisted. I think we'll raise our kids to call our friends Mr. and Mrs. Firstname.

Nope. My parents didn't like having honorary aunts and uncles. I think it would be nice and I would try it. Thing is, many of my friends have tried to give me the aunt title and I don't think there's a single kid that it stuck with.

we always called my parents' best friends from high school aunts and uncle. In fact, I didn't find out until middle school that we weren't blood related!

I have one close friend that DD will probably call aunt, but she is actually DH's cousin through marriage so it isn't that weird to call her aunt anyways!

I didn't, but I had lots of aunts and uncles close by. I'll probably refer to my two closest girlfriends and their husbands as aunt and uncle when I have kids, especially because my husband has one brother and I'm an only child, so my kids won't have lots of aunts/uncles/cousins.

I've always called my aunts, uncles, and parents' friends by their first names, though, and I'm sure my kids will do the same. I think it's unnecessarily formal to use Aunt/Uncle ______ or Mr./Mrs. _____.

My parents made me call everyone "aunt" and "uncle" in chinese but it was just aunt and uncle (in chinese) without their name. So everyone was just aunt and uncle, which made it easy for me I guess because I didn't have to remember names. Now, we also tell LOs to call friends aunt/uncle, but with their name.

I didn't, but I had something like 22 real aunts and uncles already (not counting great aunts/uncles!). My husband's best friend is already referring to himself as "Uncle Andrew", and though I don't love it, if that's what he really wants our LO to call him I won't make an issue of it.
