We went camping with DD at that age in those temps and she did great. She has socks, a fleece footed pj, a beanie and a warm sleep sack and she did great! I was nervous as we stopped cosleeping around 5.5 months but she STTN every night we camped (and hasn't repeated that streak ever again!)

It's so fun! We're going in two weeks but this time taking a trailer to sleep in.

Goodness, no! We camped in similar temperatures when my daughter was that old. She just slept in bed with us and snuggled up. Now she sleeps on a little mat next to our air mattress with warm jammies and sheets.

@Dagny: no problem! I live in FL and am a wimp in cold weather. That space heater is a must for me!

@MRSROO - thanks for the reassurance! The space heater is a great idea. :)

We just went camping with our 8 month old in similar temps. We love to tent camp, but wouldn't consider our usual camping trips as "rustic", since the campsites we go to have electric and water at each site.
We put LO in a furry sleeper with a onesie underneath and she slept inbetween us on an air mattress. We also have a little space heater that keeps us toasty in our tent. Her sleeper has a hood, footies, and mittens and she was warm even outside during dinner and hanging out by the fire.
I think as long as you're prepared, 40 is fine!

Hubby and I love to camp. We aren't really hardcore, but we definitely go for more rustic tent camping. LO is 8 mo and we still haven't gone camping. I'm in the process of booking a few short local trips, but I'm wondering how cold is too cold to camp with a LO? I'm in SoCal so we're not talking about really cold temperatures, but would 40 at night be too cold?
Thanks!
