@owlmom: That's exactly why we want one. We also figure it could be nice to have for road trips.

We're planning to go camping when LO is 8 months old, but I think we could easily take her car camping (drive to your campsite) right now at 17 weeks in decent weather. You'll have your car as a safety net if LO is crying a lot in the tent or the weather turns rough.

@Boogs: we LOVE our RV! We're still a little embarrassed to be in our early 30's and own one, but it's so awesome. We haven't taken LO in it yet, but this past summer at Glacier NP when it was 45 degrees and pouring rain, we were happy to be "cheating" instead of in our tent :)

We love it, too. We haven't been for a bit, but want to get back into it. We are thinking of buying an RV so it will be lots easier with LOs for a while even if that's totally cheating. ;)

I don't have an LO yet, but my best friend took her LO camping with a group of friends (myself included) when she was 2. It was a lot of fun! We went to a campsite and my friend, her fiance, and their LO all shared a small tent together so they could keep warm and snuggle. During the day we went hiking with her and just did some outdoor activities. In the evening, we sat around the fire and hung out.

I think the key for her was to have plenty of snacks and food that she knew LO would like and eat. Another key was using a smart phone to watch a little show (Dora) in the evening since her LO was used to watching an episode before going to bed. I think my friend did have to stay with her until she fell asleep though, just because it was a new environment and she wasn't used to it, but once she fell asleep, my friend rejoined us at the campfire. It was fun!

I'm sure we'll camp with LO. We've been tent camping for a few years now and it's always a blast. I'm just not sure how we're going to wrangle a baby, 2 dogs and not go crazy. We usually camp with my IL's so hopefully they'll be albe to help us out with keeping everyone straight.

@mediagirl: We stayed at Disney's Fort Wilderness cabins. They're crazy expensive, it would have been cheaper to stay at the Wilderness Lodge which is a really nice hotel. But we've camped every year since I was born so it's tradition, and my mom wanted us to be close so she paid for it. We got our moneys worth though, there wasn't a second all weekend when it wasn't pouring so we had everybody who was in tents hanging out in our cabin all day long. Luckily we had a tv and there was lots of football to watch. It was memorable to say the least.

I can't wait until our LO is here and old enough to camp! We will probably take her in the summer of 2014 when she is 1 year old. That way she won't be a screaming baby who would wake the neighbors. We've only ever done tent camping. At the cost of some cabins, I would rather stay in a hotel!! :)

We went camping in a cabin when she was 3 months. We were worried about the weather (good thing, it poured the entire weekend ) and we book the trip a year in advance so we didn't know she'd be sleeping through the night and we didn't want to disturb our neighbors in a tent.

It went well. I over packed for her but I'm glad I did. I went online and looked at packing lists so I wouldn't forget anything. We're planning on tent camping in March depending on the weather. I'm worried it will be too hot to camp with a baby. She'll be about 8 months. We live close enough to the campsite that we can leave if its a disaster.
