@Radish: humidity does suck!

@sarac: @Mrs. Train: We're pretty flexible and I know there will be tons of snacks available so if anything, we'll snack all day in between meals. lol

@anonysquire: I was raised camping, but this will be a 1st for DS so I'm not sure if he'll enjoy it as much as his mommy does! Guess we'll find out soon enough. ha!

@edelweiss: Thanks! I'll check out their recommendations.

Sounds like hell if it's in a tent. But that's just for me. If you were raised camping then I'm sure you will have a blast!

We camp with our kids a lot. We usually do a tent. I agree with @sarac: about being flexible. Usually the first night for us is. Little hard to get to sleep. They are always super excited and it takes awhile for them to calm down. The second night and on they are usually so tired from all their exploring and running around that they fall asleep pretty easily.

When my kids were toddlers I had to stay in the tent with the, until they fell asleep and we had a small battery lantern that I left on for them throughout the night (we had some afraid of the dark issues for awhile). Now we use the lantern while they are falling asleep but then we turn it off.

We love camping. We took my daughter first when she was about 8 months old, and we've never had a bad time. What really helps is flexibility. If you're very attached to bedtime, to sleeping arrangements, to perfect meals - you're unlikely to enjoy yourself. If you're happy to just hang out until the stars come out and then go crash in a big pile, you'll have way more fun. Also reconcile yourselves to smores for dinner.

We didn't have any problems taking our LO tent camping a year ago when she was around 17 months. Her sleep is always crummy and she ended up sharing a blow up mattress with me instead of her pack n play, but otherwise she loved it. It was a super humid weekend so I was kind of miserable, though.

If it is a tent just be prepared that he might not go to sleep until it is dark outside. We've taken our 3 year old camping many times, his first time at 3 months! We've always stayed in a tent. Luckily he is used to noise and goes down fairly easy. I do have to stay in the tent with him until he falls asleep though.

@Alivoo01: I would do it, especially if it's in a log house with friends LO gets along with! I've never been too keen on the idea of camping, but reading some of the camping posts, and hearing from other's experiences really changed my mind. Mrs. Bee wrote a great post on camping + tips - http://www.hellobee.com/2014/06/17/tips-for-camping-with-young-children/

Thoughts on camping with a 21 month old with friends over the weekend? There will be other kids there that range in age from 5yrs+ that DS enjoys hanging out with.

I'm guessing we'll be staying in a log house, but will clarify with the organizer. Thoughts if it's a tent instead?
