@littlejoy: Actually my LO dropped her day time bottles at 11.5 months, so I think you are good!

I don't think they can over eat. In my experience of two LOs, they always stop eating when they are full. LO2 actually pushes food away or starts dropping it on the floor when she has had enough.

@sapphire: @Smurfette: Yeah, she's definitely drinking less formula this month. She was doing 22 oz last month. We got the green light to start more solids at her 11 month visit. We were dealing with some pretty major dairy issues, switched to soy formula, then started dialing it back a little. All of this is under the guidance of her doctor. We'll be continuing formula + hemp milk when she turns one in 2 weeks. Oh, and MORE food! :)

Babies can regulate themselves pretty well. Neither of my boys ever are too much. It'll change. Sometimes DS1 eats tons and then other days barely anything.

Her formula intake is lower then my LO drank at that age. But the food looks about the same.

Her formula intake is on the low side so she is probably making up for it with solids. As long as she isn't getting too big and isn't having tummy troubles, I wouldn't limit her!

Sounds about right to me too - my LO was putting away quite a bit around 11-12 months. I think the food consumption decreases quite a bit during the toddler years once they are not growing so much.

Sounds pretty typical to me. If your baby jumps up too high on their growth curve, you'll know to cut back. But that's all really great, high quality food, so I think it's great.

That seems reasonable to me. Looks like she's getting at most 16 oz formula per day, which isn't really that much so it makes sense she is eating a lot of food! My 7mo isn't really that interested in food yet (I feed her every day but she eats maybe 1-2 tbspn of food), but she drinks 32 oz formula/day. :)

My LO eats/ate like that and is TINY. One day my grandma was over while we were having lunch one day and started freaking out saying that she hopes LO isn't going to be obese and all these crazy things. She's never thrown up and it LO always healthy foods so whatever. Eat till you're full kid

@anonysquire: Whoa! Yeah, we've never gotten to that point. We do baby sign language, and she's only signed "all done" (without being prompted) one time. I seriously think she would eat until she got sick if we let her.

I believe a baby can overeat. My baby does this often and then throws a little up later. I need to better learn how to control her portions without her thinking she is starving to death.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: @Mrs. Garland: Thanks for the reassurance.

Sometimes friends will post a photo of their 3 y/o's dinner, and it's like a tortilla chip, a dollop of peanut butter, and a chicken nugget. Comparing it to that, I figured she'd be eating a truck load of food by that point! ;)

Another thing I try to remember is that adults are WAY lazier than babies. At that age, they are literally moving allll day (unless their sleeping).

@littlejoy: that sounds about on par for what my oldest ate, and she was always in the 10-15%! It always astonished me that someone could eat so much and weigh so little.

She's three now and has days where I can't feed her enough & days where I feel like I have to beg her to eat. I worried about the teenager part too!

Our LO eats so. much. food!

At 11 months, her daily intake looks something like this:

Breakfast: 5 oz. of formula at wakeup, followed by a little breakfast of fresh fruit, some soy yogurt, and a few bites of peanut butter toast or whatever I'm eating.

Mid-morning bottle: 3-4 oz.

Lunch: Today was 1/4 cup quinoa with some hummus to stick it together, 1/4 cup of quinoa pasta with a little sauce, sautéed veggies, 1/2 of a satsuma orange, a little handful of fresh fruit, 10 puffs, and 1/2 of a soy yogurt.

Mid-afternoon bottle: 3-4 oz.

Dinner: She'll usually do the equivalent of 1/2 cup of beans, 1/4 grain (like rice or quinoa), 1/4-1/2 cup of steamed veggies, and 1/4 cups of fruit. It's like a normal plate of food.

Bedtime bottle: 3 oz.

Is that insane or normal?! We only introduced solids at 7 months, and she's loved everything she's tried. I can't think of a single fruit/veggie/grain/bean that we've offered that she doesn't gobble up. She ate an entire kid's meal of beans and rice at a restaurant yesterday (plus a little side of avocado).

Her doctor says that she's in the 50-60% on weight, so she's clearly fine ... It just surprises me how much this kid puts away. I can't imagine having a teenager! I'm also curious how much more we'll have to give her once she turns one, and we start weaning from formula.
