@lovelife - we used it for five months and then we started co-sleeping. I know I'm weird, I co-slept but I'm terrified of bumpers! I was able to know that DS1 was breathing when we co-slept, but I'm not going back down that road again with DS2.

RJ used to rock his head, so he'd bang his head over and over and over :( it was so sad. We got breathable bumpers, which help now too because he likes to stick his feet between the slats. I looked into Wonder Bumpers but they are so expensive!! He grew out of the head rocking but he still sometimes bangs body parts into the bars... he's a really active sleeper. Haha.

@Katm558: How long did you use a positioner for?

@mrs.yoyo - that wedge looks brilliant! I think that this is going in my shopping cart, even though DS2 isn't quite at that stage yet.

I've been scared silly of all types of bumpers, and returned my Breathable Bumper before we even set-up the crib for DS2. We used a sleep positioner with DS1, and his Bumper, but I always felt safer cause he couldn't really move around with the postitioner.

We use breathable bumpers. So far we haven't had problems with them.

Kinda pricey, but I wonder if something like this would work:

http://www.amazon.com/Inspired-Ideas-BABY-CozyWedge-Bumper/dp/B0019LXT0W/ref=sr_1_18?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1325435389&sr=1-18

Found it while getting a breathable bumper for Baby Y, who is starting to get limbs stuck between the slats ...

My LO used to bump her head against the wall (sleeps on mattress on floor) so placed flat cushions up against the wall. They worked for us.

@venice4504: not a good night sleep for you either huh?
We are having problems with the side bars. She starts laying the long way but in no time she is turned sideways. and she sleeps on her side so I'm not sure what to do?

I'm sorry...did you sleep at my house last night? :)

Mine is scooting and hitting his head on the "headboard" portion and I think that we're going to have to make a bolster or something for there. I personally don't think that's a location that a little padding would be a risk in a crib. Are you having issues with the side bars?

Lo wakes up about 5 times at night because she hits her head. We have bumpers but I don't really want to use them due to risks., anyone else having this problem? LO is only 3.5 months so I have a feeling this is just the beginning of being more active in her crib at night.
