I heard cough suppressants could cause your supply to drop, so I'd check the ingredients first...

FYI, I know they say it takes that long, but DS had dairy issues for about the first 8-9 weeks- I never supplemented with formula. He would have a bad night, I'd take out dairy and he'd be much better the next day and days following. I know how hard it is to watch your baby scrunch up in pain from gas, and dealing with the fussiness isn't fun either... But I wouldnt go long supplementing. That's just my opinion, but you might play around with it just because I know how much of a pain trying to pump is when you're dealing with a LO!
My ped told me to watch out for high protein items like nuts and nut butters too- that can be hard on LO's digestive systems. The good thing is, your baby should grow out of it after not too long (hopefully!).

There are definitely things you can take, just be careful because some medications will cause your supply to drop.

@runsyellowlites: I did take out diary entirely about 5 days ago but our ped says it doesn't leave my system for a week,so either have LO go through all that bloated pain for 3 more days or give him (milk-free,soy-free) formula until my system is 100% cleared. I am pumping to keep my supply up because he may grow out of it soon, so then I can reintroduce dairy ( I hope!).

There are definitely safe cold medicines you can take, & you can also use natural remedies.

I do wonder why you were told you had to stop bf'ing though, DD has quite a few things she's intolerant to but we haven't had to stop at all. I just removed the issue & saw improvement within a few days, more improvement at about 10 days, & most improvement at about 3 weeks. The only moms I know that have had to supplement, their bebes had lots of intolerances & they were having trouble finding what it was. :/

I am currently pumping (and freezing) because my ped suspects LO can a diary intolerance, so LO gets dairy-free formula tonight and tomorrow.
Well, I have a cold too so I was thinking that if I took medicine that i'd have to pump and dump? But the thought of throwing out all that milk makes me so sad (it takes me AWHILE to get a good amount).
So, anyone know of any meds that would be OK? Are they all ok? I have no clue and my GP office is close right now.
