I think it just throws them off that there are three of them so close in age, they look like triplets. People think my daughter is much older than she is. She started walking consistently by the time she was 10 months. Now at 14 months she is running and climbing all over stuff. She is pretty big for her age (9 months), but people say anything from 6 months to 1 year pretty regularly.
