People all told me for my whole pregnancy it looked like I was having a boy, while I was told girl at my 20 week ultrasound. Made me freak out a bit, so I asked at a 36 week ultrasound to check again, and was again told girl. When I was 40 weeks people were still insisting it was going to be a boy, but I had a girl. Ultrasounds are usually more accurate than your "shape" or anything like that imo.

Don't stress, I had people up until the week before tell me I was having a boy, and it was clearly a girl. I trusted our U/S tech, she has only been wrong 4 times and she said all of those were over 10 years ago...people's guesses be darned they are trained professionals!

I would believe an ultrasound way before I would believe peoples "gut feelings" . It is so funny how some people are so opinionated about what gender people are having. I found out we were having a girl and didn't tell anyone we knew the sex for 3 or 4 weeks and it was always hilarious having people tell me I was for sure having a boy when I secretly knew it was a girl already. :silly: Congrats!

@Raindrop: The turtle doesn't lie. I mean, it would be one thing if the ultrasound tech couldn't get a super clear shot or something, but if you have a good shot of little boy parts, I think even someone who doesn't look at ultrasounds often can tell it's definitely a boy! I would be more open to the possibility if I were told I was having a girl, but clear boy parts are pretty obvious. :)

I didn't take weekly pregnancy pictures so I actually have no idea! :)

The lady from the holiday party did not see my first pregnancy though.

Omg this happens to me all the time! People are constantly saying I look like I'm having a boy based on the fact that my belly is sticking straight out like a basketball, but I have never taken those theories to be true. I'm a firm believer that it's really the mothers body that makes the belly look either basketball or watermelon. My doctor also confirmed she's a girl at 36 weeks and said I have a lot of fluid so that's probably why it's sticking out so much.

@LaughLines: I was thinking that too... it must have been what I wore those days! :)

@erinpye: Funny story... I was suppose to be a boy too... my mom didn't have a ultrasound but from heartbeat and the stars... I was suppose to be a boy.

@Raindrop: every body is different pre and during pregnancy, it's a little nieve to think that the gender can be determined just by how you LOOK. Of course everyone looks different and their bumps look different and their clothes fit differently one day to the next. Ignore those people.... it's jibberish!

@Raindrop: everyone thought for sure I was having a girl - from the way I carried/look/weight gain and nope, was a boy and all ultrasounds showed boy.
I actually had a dream that I had a girl in the last week of my pregnancy and woke up crying because I felt like I knew him already, lol hormones!

I think it is possible (our radiographer said you can never be 100% but I think that was to cover just in case). I wouldn't think the scan was more likely to be wrong because of what others have said though, how you carry is due to body type and muscle structure etc not a penis!

Opinion of the ultrasound technician > Opinion of people who 'just know!' based on looking at you. Unless they're a superhero with 3D vision, I would trust the person who has actually seen your child and has training in this area. I know there are rare cases where the ultrasound is wrong, but when you've had two at that far along...no, I don't think you need a girl name just in case!
