@blackbird: yeah, we're getting a rubber smell, too. I'm gonna call my dad, ONLY cause my belly is huge and I don't want to have to wait an undetermined amount of time to make it stop. Plus, I'm pretty sure he's already done it.

@lazylightening: Yeah, I've done plenty of "man" things, thanks to Google. Dh works a lot, so I feel bad asking him to do stuff like this when he's home.

Yep I've fixed my dryer, my dishwasher, my fridge, my car... it isn't hard. You don't need to be a man to do it that's for sure! Sometimes you need them for their strength though - esp if your appliance is old, the parts tend to get stuck on and need more strength to remove...

my dryer was doing that, and it turned out to just be a belt that needed to be replaced! no big deal! it was also emitting a sort of rubbery gross smell after the squeaking had been going on for awhile.

I'm sure I could if i had to. But Dh always does the maintenance type stuff around the house. He's more handy than me.

Like @Leialou: , I've fixed my washing machine with the help of Google. I looked up what was wrong with my machine, then looked up the part I needed, price shopped, bought the part then installed it! I had the hubby there also while I gave him the low down just to have an extra pair of eyes since there was so many wires around.

@leialou: Yeah, Google is usually my go to place for everything...I've found a lot of things I can do myself just by learning. I'm not sure what people did before the internet!

No.. I've always been wary of big appliances.. My DH however, managed to destroy our dyer with his attempts at 'fixing it' so he has no been banned from touching any appliances, and we now make sure we get warranties :p LOL! Good luck with yours! If it's just a squeaky part, you shouldn't have much trouble.

My dryer is squeaking, so I'm using Google to see what I could do about it. Looks easy enough to repair a part, but since I've never done it, I'm a little worried I might make it worse. I also have to wait a few weeks, cause this big preggo belly isn't gonna give me any leeway to get in there.

Maybe I can get my dad to help?

Have you ever fixed an appliance yourself?
