You don't need to be a man to do it that's for sure! But Dh always does the maintenance type stuff around the house. I looked up what was wrong with my machine, then looked up the part I needed, price shopped, bought the part then installed it! I've always been wary of big appliances.. My DH however, managed to destroy our dyer with his attempts at 'fixing it' so he has no been banned from touching any appliances, and we now make sure we get warranties :p LOL! Good luck with yours!
