As a southerner I was brought up on sweet tea (black tea). I had it in my sippy cup, and I turned out alright!

@Mrs. Jacks: Send Mr. Jacks out and tell him he needs to make you this:
3 Oriental pears, small bunch of spring green onions and 1 small ginger rood. Peel and chop everything, then bring to a boil for second. Turn it down and simmer for 15-20mins. You can add cayenne and honey too if you want. Sometimes I freeze them and make pops if I'm tired of drinking hot tea :)

I've given my son chamomile tea off and on since he was a newborn and had such tummy issues. But I don't know about other teas. He's had sips of my black iced tea, but very little, and he's had no issues.

DH thought it would be funny to give Dd some Thai iced tea when she was almost 2. She had an almost immediate rush and would not stop running around the shopping mall! No more tea for her after that!

I have heard of chamomile tea being recommended for a lot of different baby tummy issues. No idea about black tea but I'd guess not because of the caffeine?

And isn't raw honey not good for babies...? Or is it only til age 1 (I know your LO just had his bday! :) ).

Oh, C. might have a little caffeine rush!

In some cultures, chamomile tea is given to babies. I know my 2.5 year old loves tea and we allow her to have some when she is sick. She's pretty sure it's a cure all, so she's always recommending ibuprofen and blueberry tea to all her friends. It gets a little embarrassing!

Totally spaced on this... I made a large batch of iced tea (black and orange pekoe with raw honey) and let my 12 month old have some - he drank about 4-5 oz... but then I remembered how a few months ago someone told me the herbs in tea are too strong for a baby and if they have some it should only be a few teaspoons... now I'm worried!!

When can you give babies tea?
