I'm 27 weeks with an anterior placenta.

Right now I can tell that baby is transverse with her legs on the left, because all the kicks are there. That's pretty much it. Sometimes I feel weird movements on both sides that feel like she's trying to stretch herself out or something.

This pregnancy I can definitely tell whats going on in there, placenta is at the back and movement is more obvious. I have an ultrasound at my OB's office every time I visit him, so I say what position I think the baby is in, and then we check. Babe has been head down for the last 8ish weeks, and I can feel hiccups down low, as well as hands/elbows poking me on either side of my pelvis/hip area. Baby then tends to lean on my left hand side and do big kicks on the right hand side of my tummy.

I could, but it's hard to describe them -

DD1 would push her bum up to be rubbed/patted. You could see the bump, it had much more surface area than an elbow/knee/foot, and it felt like a cat headbutting me.

DD2 did lots of figity leg crossing/uncrossing, and arm flaying. The arms felt like windshield wiper movement, and the leg crossing was a twisty, knotty, and not very comfortable feeling. Kind of like how it looks when you do a "wheels on the bus" or "roll it" (from Patty Cake) motions with your hands.

haha how's that for descriptive?

For what its worth, I could identify some of these motions better AFTER DDs were born and I saw them still doing the motions I'd felt in utero.

Both my babies stayed in the exact same position (head down, Barack (really phone?- back!) along right side, butt in my right ribs), so I kind of knew based on that. But I really could only be sure about hiccups and shoving her butt harder into my ribs. I never really knew what she was doing otherwise.

Hiccups I could tell because they are rhythmic.

Last time towards the end the midwife showed me how to feel for position, head vs back vs butt. Once she was head down she pretty much stayed in the same place so I knew the big jabs on my right ribs were kicks and the smaller jabs lower down must be punches. Every once it a while she would turn so her back and butt were on the right side and I could tell. But until that part was obvious, nope, just moves.

26 weeks now and aside from hiccups it's all just baby moving around. I imagine she has more room since her big sister stretched it all out for her.

I used to see something round pressing out of my stomach high up. The midwife had been saying for weeks that he was head down, in position, all good to go, so we assumed it was the baby's butt and used to poke him in the butt. I remember my husband saying "I don't understand how that's his bum, it's so hard!" Found out at 39w the baby was breech so we'd actually been poking the poor kid in the head for weeks. So no, I had no idea what was going on in there last time and I don't imagine I'm going to be any better this time.

I can tell some but only because at my 34 week scan the tech told me that the large bump was his butt and where I was feeling jabs was where the limbs were... I assume the stuff in my ribs are feet because I know he is head down at least as of a week or so ago and based on hiccups being really low I'm pretty sure he's still head down at least for now. Before that scan I really didn't have a clue about any of it! And this is baby #2!

I can tell kicks (just because I know baby's position) and can feel punches- can feel it's tiny fist! Love the kicks and punches at the same time. Other times, it's just a wave of movement and I have no idea what's going on in there.

I can tell where his head is based on where I feel his hiccups. I also know his feet are off to my right side, because I feel a small round ball kicking rather than a full movement across my stomach. I know that's his butt or head. I do feel flicks every once in a while and I assume those are his hands, but not sure!

When my whole stomach moves in sort of a shock wave, I can only assume that it's him flipping or trying to flip.

Not really. I can tell hiccups because they are rhythmic and full body flops. I can only tell punches from kicks because I know how he is positioned right now.

I am bad at this! I'm 30 weeks and besides kicks and hiccups I have no idea what the baby is doing. Especially when it feels like a shark wave across my stomach! Is he turning??

This is really just for fun - but can you tell what movements your little one is making in utero? If so, can you describe what they feel like?

Happy Friday!
