You can lock the front wheels and it's such a sturdy stroller that I would never worry about it flipping. I use it with my 18 month old and he thinks walks are boring, jogs in the UBV are much more fun! I would stay on smoother sidewalks/paved bike trails since I don't think there are shocks. I didn't know I was supposed to lock the wheel, so I'm probably not the best source of advice. Like I said, I only run on paved trails meant for running/biking (no curbs or bumps). I also use it for Stroller Strides classes. My babysitter flipped our city mini over with LO in it while walking swiftly with it on the sidewalk. LO landed head first on the pavement. Technically, I think I've heard you can jog with the UBV because of that, but I would only try it on smooth, paved sidewalks. You can hit even the tiniest bump and the stroller will veer to the side. It's dangerous. We just purchased it recently and certainly have no intention of getting another (jogging) stroller, but DH was asking if he could jog with the UBV. LO is almost 18 months, so him being too young is not an issue.. </p>
