DS's is from ikea and can be machine washed at 60 degrees Celsius and machine dried. I just washed it a few days ago and it was fine.

I hand washed mine one time in the tub and it took forever to dry. I used a hair dryer for a while and kept fluffing it and letting it hang in the bathroom. I don't dare try to stuff it in our machine, though!

I wash everything. ..I hate using dry cleaners! I wash our down comforter a few times a year and it's always fine. The only pain is getting it dry. Obviously outside isn't an option for most of us right now so I'd put it in the dryer, then lay it out somewhere for a day or two, then back in the dryer until totally dry. Just be sure to clean the lint trap cuz it'll be full of feathers!

@MediaNaranja: Do you have a top-loading washing machine? I've read that it's best to use a front-loader, but the nearest laundromat is not that close!

Update: I machine washed & tumble dried with no problems, just used some tennis balls in the drier to fluff it up. @T-Mom: I wound up leaving it hanging over night inside, just to be sure it was completely dry before putting it back in the duvet. Thanks for mentioning that!

I also dug out an old blanket for the dog to sleep on when he's on the bed. I think he just had an upset tummy, but I'd rather not have to wash it again! Thanks again for the advice!

@MediaNaranja: From what I've read, the most important thing is to make sure that it is completely dry before covering with duvet and using it (to prevent mold from growing). I have one I need to wash too!

Awesome, thanks for the advice everyone! I'll try machine washing it and do a combo of dryer w/ tennis balls and air dry (since temps are supposed to be in the 50s today...wahhh, but good for air drying, I guess).

I have always washed mine, in one of the huge machines at the laundromat.

I also hang it out to dry, then air fluff it if necessary.

We take our winter one (a heavier weight and more expensive one we got for our wedding) to the dry cleaner. It's too big for our washer

For the lighter one I use in summer that we bought more cheaply at Target, I take it to my mom's and use her larger front load washer.

We have one winter-weight down comforter and one summer-weight. I always machine wash/tumble dry at the end of the season. Be sure to use tennis or dryer balls in the dryer, and let it air out after before storing or using it.

I've washed mine before. It's a pain getting it to fluff back up. I usually run it through the dryer for an hour and then let it air dry the rest.

Admittedly a dumb question. I inherited this from my mom and it doesn't have any tags. The dog just vomited all over the bed and it smells HORRIBLE. Please tell me I can throw it in the washing machine, lol.
