My LO was okay with the Uppababy bassinet as something to sleep in, but she hated it for walks - I think maybe because she associated it with sleep? No idea, but we did get this http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3532542 and it helped give her a little support. She's 7 months old now and I was just walking her today and thinking it's probably time to take the Noggin Nest out!

C hated her pack n play. We planned on using it in our room for the first couple months too. She would sleep like 10 minutes in it and then scream her head off. She's 9 months old and still doesn't tolerate it. :/ Thankfully we only spent like $60 on it.

@PrincessBaby: Awww... I totally feel for you because I know my DH would roll his eyes and make snarky comments if our baby doesn't like the UBV too! Actually, I've heard a lot of moms (UBV & Bugaboo) say their babies didn't like being in the bassinet for stroller rides at all. So, I never used that as a selling point with DH except that we can use it as a travel bed or bassinet for nap-times. I figure we'll use the car-seat adapter most of the time.
I'm interested in checking out the neck & body support thing too that @kml636: mentioned!

Good luck!

@hilsy85: @Thehistoryofus: I'm going to try propping it up today on a walk and see what happens....Thank you!

@MamaMoose: We haven't tried the carseat and adapters yet but that may be the next step if the next few walks with the bassinet result in bloody-murder screaming! She gets so upset that she won't take a paci, just screams through it...

@plaidpants: That's my fear- that one of the reasons I bought the UBV will be totally useless for us!

@Mrsbells: She is a month old....Hopefully it will grow on her!!

@Foodnerd81: I have a beautiful Comfy Joey sling that I haven't even tried yet. I bet she hates it- lol! That would be my luck!

@hilsy85: She's usually in a good mood (unless hungry!)...So that's why it's so weird because she's all happy go lucky (I never take her for walks in it unless she's fed and happy)...I guess it could be a lot worse!

@mrs. wagon: DH will kill me if she never ends up liking it! I really had to work hard to sway him into going for a $700 stroller! But yes, I guess worst- case scenario that's the upside of a high-end item- I know I can resell it and recoup a lot of what I paid!

@kml636: Oooh, I will look into that too! Did you get it from the UBV website?

I also have the UBV. Lily likes the bassinet, but I have a snuggle neck and body support thing in there. Otherwise I was afraid her head would wiggle around. Might be worth trying?

@PrincessBaby: sometimes babies just need to get used to something. She might not like ANY stroller! I would definitely suggest trying the seat with the infant insert, she might like that better (especially if she doesn't mind a carseat). Then when she gets a little older, you can use the bassinet for naps or as a place to sleep while traveling. It's a shame to not use it since it's SO cute, but you can always try later when she's older and not as fearful of things, and then you can always sell things used :)

@PrincessBaby: Also, have to tried putting her in there when she's in a really good mood, and maybe just for like 5 min at a time while you talk to her and play with her? Maybe it'll help make positive associations with it?

@MamaMoose: I was going to suggest the carseat and adapter too-- maybe for walks she likes being more cradled or in a tighter space? That's so frustrating that she hates the bassinet-- that's one of the main reasons i want to get a fancy stroller like the UBV or a Bugaboo!
I know my sister put my nephew in the regular seat sooner than she was supposed to because he started getting really frustrated in the bassinet, but this was when he was a few months old and wanted to see out and was frustrated that he couldn't. H seems just a wee bit young for that to be the issue.

And, I hear you on wanting to *make* the baby like something-- I sort of have my heart set on doing a lot of baby wearing, and I'm afraid I'll have one of the babies that just hates it. DH is really looking forward to it too and it would suck if he missed out on that bonding, so I'm really going to try and make the baby like it!

My friend was gifted this dreadful baby swing - it was a huge, blue plastic monstrosity. Anyway, her baby loved it - but it didn't go with her decor so she gave it away and spent £85 on a pretty new one, in soft colours. Well.... baby HATES it. He screams blue murder every time she tries him in it. Her DH is furious with her! So no advice, I just wanted to say I sympathise!

I have the UBV and LO didn't tolerate the bassinet much either! I ended up getting the infant insert for the seat and she was much happier. It was a bummer that a big part of the stroller didn't really get used, but it's still a great stroller!

@hilsy85: yes I don't think the bassinet raises but just put something under the pad to lift it up.

@PrincessBaby: I know the seats say not to use them for six months but we did. It reclined to almost flat (more reclined than a bouncy seat) and we were just walking so I felt comfortable with it.

@PrincessBaby: what about using her car seat and a car seat adapter for walks? My LO also doesn't like the UB Vista bassinet for use around the house. But she's fine in there once the stroller starts moving. I agree with Hilsy that you should try a paci too.

A is exactly the same and we have the UBV too. Every time we put her snowsuit on she screams in anticipation of going in the stroller, lol. We often end up picking her up and carrying her instead as I can't bear to see her cry. I just bought an ergo to try instead....

@PrincessBaby: The only way I know is to put something, like a rolled up towel, under one end of the bassinet pad, like the end where her head goes. That should definitely be enough to elevate it though, and then maybe she'll be able to see out more and will like it better.

@Thehistoryofus: I haven't tried the seat yet...I think it's just the bassinet she hates - she actually likes movement so I feel like she'd be fine with the stroller if she didn't hate the bassinet itself. And I think I'm supposed to use it until she's 6 mos, so I REALLY hope we can overcome this!!!

I agree with @autumnlove: about not wanting to feel confined. Apparently, I never slept in my crib or bassinet as a baby... or anything else that was semi-closed in. I would only sleep on the floor or in a playyard/pnp type thing. Those things were giant then, so I know that had to have been a pain.

Could it be that she feels "confined" in the bassinet (not really familiar with it but would guess it has solid sides, even if made of fabric). Most cribs have slats which could be the difference.

@Thehistoryofus: we do the side wiggle too sometimes, lol. We look funny, and take up the whole sidewalk going side to side, but it works!

@rachiecakes: I agree, it also could just be that she doesn't like being flat. Maybe try to swaddle her, elevate the bassinet pad, and surround her with some blankets (not for sleeping obviously just for the walk). See if any of that helps make her feel more safe and secure.

Honestly, our stroller (B-Ready) was so smooth I think it didn't have enough "vibrations" to calm her down on a walk. We used to kinda wiggle the stroller side to side as we walked to help calm her down until she got used to it.
