I like Natalie with Josephine. Though I do love Katherine/Catherine (we have a Kaitlyn, of the same roots), the double "-ine" of the two names would steer me away.

Very good solid timeless name and of course I feel very strongly about Josephine since it's our daughter's middle name as well.

I was going to suggest the Irish spelling of Ashley if that was still in consideration, but I like what you've chosen best... though I would have insisted on the C, but if you've got to give in on something that's a good spot to do it.

I like Catherine, if it doesn't bother you that it's very similar to your other daughter's middle name.

@Mrs. Champagne: We did find out, and I was right- #2 is a girl! We ended up battling it out and I won Katherine Josephine (my concession being we could spell it Katherine rather than Catherine like I wanted). I have a feeling our boy names are never getting used! Lol

@jessicamcb: I'm biased but I love Kate (my name) and its nice to have a full name to fall back on. My spelling is very uncommon, Katharine, but Kate with a K is the normal shortening for Catherine. Cate is cute too. I also love Ashley though.

@heartonastring: I've never met another Katharine - yay for your DD :)

@JessicaMcB: It's funny your DH thinks Catherine is an "old lady's name".
If you look at statistics, Ashley peaked in 1992 and has been on a steady downward slope since then. It's graph is much more of a bell curve indicating there is a very specific time period when it was trendy. I think it is likely that it become a "mom name" when your DD is older.
Catherine, on the other hand, is historically popular and with the alternative spellings (Katherine) it is much more timeless and consistently popular.

I like Catherine much more than Ashley, but Natalie is my favorite.

Other things I noticed: I feel like Catherine and Kathleen are very similar. It's not a big deal, but it jumped out to me. Also, is Emma short for something? I very much like the name Emma, but feel like Catherine is such a proper name and Emma is more spunky and trendy. Would you plan on calling her Katie or Kate? I think if you are, they work really well together.

Just my two cents! Whatever you pick will be perfect

Well I'm partial to Catherine as it's my daughters middle name (to honor my grandmother). One thing I will point out: part of the reason we chose not to go with Catherine as the first name is that there are so many nicknames. And sometimes it can be tough to control what people will end up calling them (especially when they start school). Of all the nicknames we figured she'd get called Katie. Living in the south monogramming is big and I wanted to be sure LO didn't end up with a name where her full name and her nickname started with different letters. I wasn't willing to spell Catherine with a K since my grandmother spelled it with a C and Katie with a C is weird. So we pushed it to her middle name to avoid the nickname stress.

I love the name Catherine, but I don't know how I feel about it (personally, though it is your child so you should do what you love) with Josephine since they both end in "ine." Catherine Josephine sounds fine, but I just don't love how it looks! Maybe the flow could be a bit better?
I do like Natalie Josephine, and I think Natalie and Emma are cute together.
