My LO was a swaddle hater and so we had weaned by the time of sleep training (12 weeks). My instinct is that it's probably best to swaddle wean, then sleep train.

We struggled with this too. Around 4 months her sleep was horrible and we had a lot of transitions to make. We wanted to sleep train, swaddle wean, and move her out of our room/pack n play into her room/crib. It just seemed like so much an we didn't know how to tackle it. Our ped suggested swaddle weaning and sleep training at the same time because she said if LO could roll around and get to her hands it would help her self-soothe for sleep training.

Around 4.5 mo we tried to swaddle wean and sleep train at the same time and (for us) it was awful. Really horrid crying for about 30 min then she pooped. Got her cleaned up and set back down and she immediately started screaming again for about 15 min then she projectile vomited. Then I gave up. We gave up on sleep training and at 5 mo moved her into a merlin suit, which took about 3 days for her to get used to. Then at 5.5 mo moved her to her crib/nursery. Then at 6 months she was about ready to roll in the merlin suit so we switched her to a sleep sack an tried sleep training again and it went MUCH MUCH BETTER. (And at 6.5 mo did nap training, and now at 7.5 mo we are finally pretty happy with her sleep. Whew).

So I dunno if that is helpful. Every baby is different. I do think that sleep training would probably be harder when still swaddled. But doing both at once is hard too. With hypothetical future babies I would probably do the same thing, swaddle wean first and sleep train second.

Or do we need to swaddle wean before sleep training? We're hoping to ST around 17 weeks/12 weeks adjusted, so in 6 weeks (we're so desperate for something to improve...). But LO is still swaddled, do I tackle that first? So daunting, I think he still will wake himself up...
