@MamaCate: I have something major due Aug 15 (LO is due May 16) so I will be back by Aug 5 at the latest, regardless of when LO arrives :-/

@septemberlove: i did! I finished everything up a few days before my due date and went out, but didnt have LO for another weekbecause she was stubborn. Your HR person is probably the best person to answer though.

I was induced at 40+6 so you may want to think about your planfor if lo is late. It sounds like your return date may be fixed, but you may end up with less time with lo if not...

@matador84: yeah I don't think I'll be able to take the full 12, given the way my huge quarterly project falls with my due date so I'm tempted to use the week prior to rest up rather than just not use it at all :) but I wasn't sure if that would be allowed.

I only got 12 weeks FMLA if I wanted to take it early, I could but it came out of my leave. I took 8 weeks maternity leave which was covered under FMLA. However, any FMLA days I used came out of my PTO, once I ran out of those days my pay was docked.

I've been able to use my FMLA for drs appts and morning sickness, so unless it is different for every employer, I don't see why you couldn't use it to take a week early :)

I plan to work up until shortly before my due date and was curious when/if I'd be able to start mat leave under FMLA. I'm thinking something along the lines of leaving maybe one week before my due date.
