If it's the true TWW, then no. Once the egg misses the window, it's done until the next month. As @SugarplumsMom: said, the exception would be that 2nd egg, but that's rare.

For someone who's not tracking their cycle at all (or not temping I should say) can absolutely get pregnant. They don't know when they're actually ovulating, and their TWW could very well be different than the standard.

Not sure if I understand the question, but you're only in the TWW (or luteal phase) once you have already ovulated. If the egg was fertilized and properly implants, then you are pregnant - if the egg was not fertilized, then the uterine lining starts to break down and you get your period. If you have truly ovulated and you are in the luteal phase, having sex won't do anything since there's no egg to fertilize. The only reason people say you can get pregnant anytime is because if you don't track your cycle, you don't know when you ovulate.

@pui: This. And DH actually thought that you really could get pregnant anytime and pretty much every time if you just had unprotected sex. Little did he know....

I think they teach more "Anytime you have sex, you can get pregnant", which is pretty true for anyone not tracking their cycle. For all you know, you are ovulating now if you don't pay attention to your cycle.

In reality though, it is impossible to get pregnant by sex happening before the 6 days before you O and any day after you O. Really you need to aim to have sex in the three days you are most fertile, which is the 2 days before you O and O day.

I'm pretty sure high schoolers are told they can get pregnant any time because it's much easier than teaching them how to accurately chart their cycles.

If your last two questions are serious, I'd highly suggest reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

I've read that even if you happen to produce a second egg, they're released within 24 hours of each other. So technically yes, especially if you just happened to ovulate late, but it would most likely be from when you BD before your actually ovulated.

I think the egg only has 12-24 hours to be fertilized once it's released. So at the very beginning of the TWW (like the day after O) it could be possible. But if you O'd late you could get pregnant during what you thought was the TWW.

By definition it would be pointless as far as making babies goes because the egg would be dead or you would be pregnant already.

No. Your hormones change after you ovulate. Maybe there is some slim chance you ovulate from both ovaries a few days apart but I doubt it.

Remember how they used to tell you in high school that you could get pregnant ANYTIME? Remember freaking out the first few times you did it without protection? Phantom symtoms etc hahaha.

Do you think you can still TTC during the TTW? What are the chances it would be successful?
