Redirection worked for us. I would just move him to another activity when he'd throw things around, largely because he was either bored or the item was too challenging and he was frustrated.

I'm not here yet, but I've watched my BFF with her little girl, and what she does is often turn away if she has to smile or silently laugh to herself! Then once she's composed and has her stern face back on, she'll turn back. It seems to be working for her!

I have a hard time with this as well. LO will look at me while slowly dropping food on the floor. She is definitely looking for a reaction. I have tried grabbing her hand and telling her no quite sternly. I have made her cry a few times but I think she realizes I was serious (i didnt hurt her!). Its hard though when they laugh when you say no.

We used to laugh and think it was so cute too..
Then she got older and contined the behavior. Wasnt very cute anymore! Sometimes when she misbehaves in public and doesn't listen to me I get really embarrassed.. Puts me in a crappy mood, but I have no one else to blame but myself!
I'm a lot sterner with my dd now. I even spanked her booty one day because she was being super defiant and wouldn't listen! Time outs weren't working either.

Think about the future and start gentle discipline now!
I have no advice bc I'm still working on it. Lol

Walk away. If she is safe and you need to laugh/smile walk away. She is working for the reaction.

I think my LO is the cutest little thing in the world who does the cutest things in the world which is making discipline hard. If she's doing something dangerous like trying to touch the oven knobs or trying to climb into the tub alone I have no problem getting her to stop.

It's the non-dangerous but testing her independence things I have a problem with. Throwing all of her dinner on the floor, snatching a toy or item, hitting me, and other types of toddler activity (she's 14 months). I usually end up laughing because she makes the funniest faces. And now she's taken to shaking her little finger at me and saying "No, no, no" and laughing because that's exactly what I do.

I'm losing the discipline battle against my toddler but I can't control my laughter and smiles sometimes! Any suggestions or tips?
