Dh cooks as often as I do. He does have to follow a recipe and he makes so much mess. I swear he uses every bowl or implement in the kitchen.

DH can make an incredible omelet (as can every member of his immediate family--although they all make them differently), and likes to grill, but past that, he really just loves to eat.

He can cook but it's simple stuff like making spaghetti and adding some chicken and sauce. He can't seem to follow directions or a recipe really well. Must be that guy thing again. I did tell him how to make a shrimp scampi over the phone but it was really simple directions. I didn't use any cooking lingo.

@Chopsuey119: Same here! He can grill, too, though. If I'm swamped and I ask him to cook something for dinner, it's usually eggs or ramen. If I request something else, even just spaghetti, I might as well just cook it myself for how often he calls me into the kitchen with questions.

@artbee:
It's kinda crazy but he knows if the meat is done by touch of his grill spatula. For steak, chicken, pork and to different done ness. It's kinda amazing really. I still have to cut with a knife haha

I'm so excited warm weather is coming because I do so miss his pulled pork and ribs. Just love that smokey flavor and that smoke ring.

My husband can cook and actually enjoys it, but I still do 99% of the cooking because he's SO. SLOW, and it drives me nuts! I only ask him to cook dinner if I'm meeting friends out and coming home for dinner (so I don't have to wring my hands as I watch him meticulously chop veggies)!

My husband is a great cook – he actually taught me to cook! Before I lived with him, I was all single-girl dinners: take out sushi, guacamole and chips, or spaghetti for dinner every night. I’m a good cook now, just never really tried before we got together.

good God no.

He's gotten really great at grilling. I know he could be a good cook if he had the time/motivation to try. But we both default to either me cooking or just getting takeout.

Mine is a decent cook! His family owned a Chinese restaurant growing up, so he picked up a few things.

We cook 80% of our meals together, with one of us prepping/washing dishes while the other is on the stove. We cook about 4 - 5 dinners/week and the other day we talked about how the only reason we eat at home so often is because we BOTH share the cooking. I told him that if I had to cook everyday, we would NOT be eating at home as often!

@artbee- I really should. I had mentioned what we had in the fridge/freezer and assumed he'd be able to figure something out... wrong. I mean, if I was told that there was chicken, salmon, ground turkey and a bunch of sides, I'd figure out what to do with them. Oh well!

DH is a wonderful cook! We actually take turns cooking during the week. We sit down on Sundays and plan our meals (3 each) for the week and then do one big shopping trip. Then we take turns cooking and whoever doesn't cook does the dishes! It works for us.
He's the one who started cooking us things like tofu and kale, otherwise I never would have even bought them.
