@BananaPancakes: My DD would not sit through a page and I was worried she wouldn't ever let me read her a book! She liked flipping through the pages herself. I think at around 27 months something clicked and now she LOVES when we read to her. She'll bring us books all day/night long if we let her.
:)

Color me jealous of all the babies who will sit and read a whole book! I hope he comes around because we built him a sweet book nook and he currently only uses it to throw the books further.

My 3 year old loved books but didn't sit through the whole thing until he was much older (2 ish?). Even now, he'll sit through a few books if he's in the mood. Otherwise, he'll leaf through them and move on to the next toy. My 1 year old will sit for a few pages and then she's off.

Very rarely! She can usually sit still for her faves (currently its Brown bear Brown bear what do you see) but for most books, it's a few pages and she's off

Mine does, I have to hide the really long books and just bring them out for special days. I honestly hate reading aloud, but she loves it, and it's so good for her.

yes my LO loves reading, she sits quietly while I read it, sometimes she wants to turn the pages faster than I can read but she definitely sits still. As soon as I am done she runs to the bookshelf for another book

Yeah, she does. She loves to read though. Some of her favorites I am forced to read books multiple times but she does have some that just don't interest her. Those are the books she throws.

Mine does. He has had patience for books and will sit through 5-6 longish stories at a time. He's 2.5 now, but I think he could sit through 1-3 books starting at just over 1 year.

Yes, she actually lets me read them all to her now. Today before nap I read a pretty long one. After each page she kept saying, "more."

Ellie would sit for hours while I read as a toddler. HOURS. Lorelei... it depends on her mood. Usually she will chuck the book at your head and politely request that you read it to her, sit in your lap for two pages, and run off again. I think someday it will improve? My oldest spoiled me. ;) Lorelei also seems to like novelty, so we try to get "new" books from the library often.

Nope! She does the same thing. And if I try and go through every page she gets upset and throws the book even harder. We have changed our reading time to seek and find time where we just point out what is in the book rather than actually reading the words.

Basically since he started walking, my son hasn't sat through an entire book being read. He usually only gets to page two, then turns through the rest of the pages, then throws the book. I find it interesting how many of my friends' toddlers will sit through an entire book. Does you toddler stay put, or would he/she rather just pretend its a Frisbee? I was hoping to create a book-lover, but I'm not sure it's going to happen.
