We had persistent diaper rash on his front forever. We decided to start potty training. Diaper rash and naked time was one of the reasons we started potty training. We made sure daycare put the cream on and she would do naked time most days.

At night I would put on the not cloth diaper safe creams and it did resolve itself. He is also 22 months and nearly fully potty trained.

@mrstilly: Hmmm... I don't know. Maybe the problem is the (in)frequency of changed. I would recommend emailing Stephanie at Abby's Lane. She has been TREMENDOUSLY helpful in helping me troubleshoot issues. I can't sing enough praises about her help.

@Weagle: I use bleach about every 7th or 8th wash cycle. I also strip the diapers with Dawn about every other month or so. They seem to be washing/rinsing clean.

Have you disinfected the diapers? There could be a detergent build up that's contributing to the rash... Especially with your BGs. Synthetic fibers are tougher to get really clean. BG recommends running a bleach cycle once a month. It's also recommended to disinfect after any rash, even if it hasn't been a month since the last bleach cycle.

ETA: The best cloth safe diaper ointment I've used is Grandma El's.

DS is almost 2. We've mostly cloth diapered since he was a few weeks old. We use bum genius pocket diapers. DS is a heaver wetter and we have been using disposables at night due to leaks.

Since Thanksgiving DS's skin has been rashy and really dry. I've had half a dozen different diagnoses from the pediatrician's office, from hives to fifths disease to dry skin. With it has come unrelenting diaper rash. I use CJs butt butter with our cloth diapers. I don't think our daycare provider is using it during the day and I don't think she is changing him often enough during the day. DS knows when he is wet, but hates diaper changes. She also doesn't get them adjusted too well. I've had to stuff the pocket diapers with an extra insert, making everything extra bulky. It is hard because DS does hate diaper changes and to keep up with him, he needs to go through 2 to 3 more cloth diapers than disposables.

Any suggestions? I'm ready to just give up since he is close to potty training (I hope!) and it is a recurring problem that will not seem to go away.

I don't know what else to try, besides going to disposables and using a ton of ButtPaste. Any suggestions?
