What a cute nickname for the baby!

I also contemplated getting the 7D. I had a Canon Rebel XT for a long time and wanted an upgrade. Ultimately I chose the t2i (since that was the newest in the Rebel series at the time) and I don't regret that decision one bit. For us, it was nice to save money on the camera body and put that money towards good lenses. It's an awesome camera and I bet the t3i is even better, of course. I also wanted to improve on my photog skills more before getting a camera like the 7D. For the purposes of shooting your LO, the Canon Rebels are excellent, especially of you are new to DSLRs.

Does anyone have the Canon Rebel T3i?

DH and I want to invest in a DSLR before Sesame is born, and although we'd love a Canon 7D, that's just not in the budget. We've heard some good things about the T3i, but I'd love to hear some opinions from bees who actually have and use the camera!
