It can't be helping that you're in the house. If you're not there, things might go better. I hope you have a better experience than we did... DD put herself and DH through an awful time because she would not drink for the ten hours I was gone. DH sort of kind of convinced her to take a bottle by giving it a cute name and having it "dance" in front of her, but even then she'd take in 2-3 ounces in that whole time.

I may have had a lipase problem to boot, but DS didn't care, so it can't have been that bad...

Have you tried the Lansinoh Moma bottle? It's the only one that worked for my son when I went back to work. Once he was able to take this, we transitioned him to Dr. Brown's easily. Good luck.

We went through the exact same thing when I went back to work a year ago. DS previously took a bottle fine, then we stopped for a month and he started refusing. We tried everything...I would leave for hours and DH would try to give him a bottle, and he would drink maybe half an ounce. It just took time once he was in daycare; he finally realized he was going to have to take a bottle if he wanted to eat. I don’t remember exactly how long it took...maybe a week or two.

I remember how incredibly stressful it was...I shed lots and lots of tears over it. Hang in there...it will work out eventually!

I second the above, walking around really helped! Also for me, to try and feed in the exact same position as breastfeeding and having lots of eye contact, singing, etc to distract helped. It took about 3 days for my EBF 4 month old to figure it out.

We were just dealing with this. Have you tried walking around with her while giving her the bottle? The lights and ceiling fans were a great distraction and she went from chewing to sucking to actually drinking without much fuss. This was an almost 3 month old who had always straight up refused bottles, so it was a bit of a miracle ;) Now I can start by standing up and moving a bit and then move right to the rocking chair and sit for the rest of the feed.

Are you feeding expressed milk or formula?

I think littles will eventually eat when hungry so I would try not to stress about it too much

I am one week from going back to work and am having serious anxiety because LO is suddenly refusing to take a bottle. We had her bottle trained but went probably a month (eek!) without using it thinking we were ok and now she won’t do anything but chew on it and spit out whatever comes out. Then the screaming starts :bummed: I have been trying several times a day with no success. DH has been trying too when he can but so far it’s not working. I am going to try leaving for awhile tomorrow and see if that makes a difference (so far I have been hiding in the basement before she wakes from her nap) any tips? We never had this problem with my son so I am freaking out.
