If I were you, I would contact your ped directly and ask for an exception this time because of your international travels/move. If he/she really won't allow it just one day in advance, then just be sure to book an appt with a new doctor after LO's birthday as soon as you can.

Our doc does a 3 day leeway. That way it's not so big of a deal.

Yep, this happened to us at his 2-month appointment. It was a couple days before and we had to go back for shots. Things I would have liked to know in advance *eye roll*

Weird. LO is only 7 months but we usually go a day or two before she turns whatever month her visit is for. Guess we'll have to push it back for her 12 month.

This just happened to me! I scheduled his 6 month checkup 3 days before his bday and now I have to come back next week for the shots since no one told me before... So annoying! 3 days!

That seems crazy. I know here they will allow some leeway but there has to be a certain minimum time between shots.

Yes, I remember our doctor telling us it can't be before the actual birthday.

Yes! When we scheduled our 12 months appointment and shots after our 9 month well baby the doctor said "make sure your appointment is AFTER his one year birthday because he will not be eligible for shots BEFORE he turns one." I guess they are pretty strict about it. The receptionist scheduled DS's appointment exactly 6 months from his last set of shots too.

I tried to schedule LOs 1 year old visit today and was denied. I asked to make an appointment anywhere in the week before her birthday.

The last day we'll be in our current town is the day before LOs first birthday, we're moving and that's when our lease is up. But the receptionist said they won't give her the immunizations if it's at all before her birthday. It seemed so weird to me, I'm not sure if I should call and ask someone else. It's not that big of a deal but we'll be traveling internationally for several weeks before we move into our home and then will have to schedule her appointment with a completely new doctor in a new town a month after her birthday.

Has anyone else run into something like this? Should I call and try to talk to someone else?
