I heard if you pinch their nose they will open their mouth.... but I don't know how to get them to not spit it out. Good luck!

@TurtleDoves: Well, she hates the orange juice. Maybe I will try with a little bit of milk even though I'm a little afraid.

@mrsjazz: noooo...I don't put it in "all" his milk. I'll be like 3/4 of an oz and put the drops in there. I'll catch him when he's super hungry and he will gulp it down without realizing. Then, i'll fill his bottle up when that's gone (with untainted milk) for a full feeding. Maybe you could do that amount with undiluted orange juice?

@TurtleDoves: @mrsjazz: it smells terrible! I honestly don't blame her. she has constipation issues, so I'm kind of using that as my reasoning to avoid it anyway..more iron wouldn't exactly help ya know? and i tried putting it in her food (she won't take a bottle) and she freaked out...literally burst into tears. so I don't want to ruin food for her..sucks. my ped was making me feel terrible..saying "you're giving the iron supplements, right? they need that for their brain development. it's extremely important." ..well I know! but isn't making sure she eats important too? haha.

@TurtleDoves: We're using OTC Fer-in-Sol drops. Maybe I can try another brand but I figured they all taste the same? I don't know. I don't want to put it in her milk because I don't want to mess that up and have her not want to drink her milk.

@sorrycharlie: Yeah, this is hard. I may give up soon, too.

Dang, smart girl! I put it in his milk. Is there anyway you can change them? Iron supplements from RX are usually same % as those sold OTC. I know this because we didn't have insurance the first week of LOs life an our ped told us they are OTC and just as good as rX. Maybe other brands taste better? I've heard some moms on hear say that their kids love it. There has got to be a flavored kind!

Any suggestions on how I can give her the iron drops her pediatrician prescribed? She hates the taste of them and keeps her mouth shut when I try to give them to her. If I manage to get them in her mouth she just spits it back out.

I've put the drops in diluted orange juice and mango juice (she hates it). I've put the drops in a little applesauce and she figured it out. Please help!
