One thing I read is that it's harder to turn off the creative side of your brain but easier to turn off the numbers side. Which is why they say counting sheep helps. For me I can't just count because my mind still wonders but if I count by 3's or even backward by 3's it's enough to focus on the numbers and fall asleep.

I've also practiced some light meditation relaxation stuff. Not focusing on sleep but just letting the tension go in your body. Start at your toes and relax and release any tension there until you can barely feel them anymore. Then move up to your calls, your knees, your thighs etc.

I have a hard time falling asleep, too. DH snores and we share our room w/DD2, who is 9wks.

I make sure I have a full day so that I'm sufficiently tired at night. I started working out again, aiming for 30min cardio 2-3x/wk. If I need some help, I put on headphones and turn on the white noise app on my iphone. That usually does the trick.

This is my hell. LO is getting up almost hourly so I always try to fall back asleep ASAP. I think knowing in trying to fall asleep results in my not being able to! So lame!

Yes I've always had trouble with this. Things that help: no turning lights on (or keeping them very, very dim), no looking at my phone/the time, and no talking. Basically just moving around like a zombie so that I stay sleepy.

Anyone have tips for getting back to sleep after a MOTN wake up? I don't know if it's adrenaline from hearing the baby wake up or what but I've been having trouble herring back to sleep even though I'm soooo tired.
