We wouldn't insure them. We still have a restriction even now on people we think may actually live in your state. We are going to fight it because it is worth it to. Everything I read says that we should replace it. Going to look for new carseats today. It just changes all of our plans. This one was going to expire next year and my son would be 4 and we would buy a forward facing to replace it. I'm not ready to forward face him yet so we are buying a new convertible. Problem is you wouldn't ever know it until you get in an accident with LO in the seat and the car seat fails and doesn't protect them properly. A lot of insurance companies will end up caving on this one when you tell them that your car seat manufacturer says that your seat needs to be replaced, and that you can sue them if they refuse to replace it and the seat fails and causes injury to your child in a future accident. If yes, get a statement from them and provide it to the insurance company. I have heard that a lot of people have to have a statement from the manufacturer sent to the insurance for it to be covered. And by the standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin it would need to be covered because it was the door nearest the carseat was damaged. (their criteria is in the link in my last post). I would totally fight it! You can call your carseat manufacturer. It's not up to the insurance company. </p> <p>According to carseat manufacturers, there COULD be damage. The crash could have compromised the integrity of your seat. There would be no way of knowing until the next accident, which is why they should be replacing it.
