@QBbride: thanks, I’m going to call them. This seat ... ugh. I don’t like it but struggle to find something good in that price range. I also don’t think it looked like this when I did the install, but subsequently moved there.

For future reference - I guess if the base was flat (not doable here due to angle of seat) instead of on the noodles, it would have pushed the lower anchors out more? Is that allowed? I ask because I’ve had other seats here that did not have a recline issue (so no noodles) but were probably equally wide. A Marathon G3 (expired now). And I never noticed the anchors but don’t know if I was doing something wrong. Any help appreciated.

@bhbee: I wouldn’t be comfortable with the grey part sitting on the UAS like that. I, too, would try reinstalling with the seatbelt instead and sending those photos to Britax (CPST)

@bhbee: Hmmm... I'm not sure what the official stance would be from Britax but I'm not sure I would feel comfortable with it. Have you tried installing with a seat belt?

Honestly, I would probably send pics to britax to see what they say. You never know, they might say it's fine....

@catgirl: hi! Wanted to get your opinion. I was looking at my latch install and noticed the seat base (which has a pool noodle prop under) is sitting slightly on the lower anchors. Like the grey part of the seat base (will attach pics). How worried do you think I should be about this?? It doesn’t look like force from the seat could push the button in but I don’t know. It’s on both sides so not sure any room to fix it ... thank you!!

I use a tightly rolled towel to install our car seats all the time. It really helps get a solid installation. I have never tried a noodle.

@Shantuck: diono allows the angle adjuster with their seats, it cannot be used with any other seats. Sunshine kids is the old name for the diono seats.

@bhbee: you can use a tightly rolled towel or a pool noodle. Whichever you use, you want it to be roughly the same width as the car seat, and make sure it is not pushing the lower anchors or belt out to the side. You would place it in, put the car seat on top, and install. The seat does have a range of recline allowed, if you have an iPhone (and probably other smartphones) you can use a level app to see where it is.

This is why I so prefer seats with a bubble level on them! Much easier to determine recline.

@Shantuck: thank you! I ended up making it work with the triangle of pool noodles pieces taped together, it’s funny to me that is an “approved” method!

@bhbee: Not sure if this is helpful because I'm definitely not a car seat expert but it looks like there are actually products you can purchase to get the right angle of recline for certain seats. Here are the ones I stumbled upon...

Need help from the experts ...

We just moved LO (7m ~20lb) into a britax emblem, one of their new cheaper line. I really don’t love the seat - it seems padded to the point of being hard to use and she’s still tiny!

But my big complaint is the recline - I think it’s technically correct, as the parallel line on the seat looks about right. But she’s sleeping in the seat right now and her chin is on her chest. The manual mentions you can add a towel or pool noodle to the seat bight so it seems worth trying to improve the angle (they give a range up to 45 degrees and she’s definitely not that low).

Do I really just put a towel in there and then retighten the latches? Is there anything to know to make this the safest I can?

Alternatively what is your favorite lower price but decent feature convertible - we need to get 3 years out of it. If I don’t find the seat easier to use soon I may bag it.

Thanks!!
