We were told to not add anything to the carseat because it can affect the safety of the seat in an accident. Likewise, not to dress our LO in puffy snow suits in the winter. Car seats aren't tested with those comfy add-ons, so the company can't guarantee the seat will perform as expected in an accident. And our OB nurse said if we had one of the body support things in the car seat, they'd make us take it out before we can take the baby home from the hospital. LO was pretty big, 8 lbs 13 oz at birth so she didn't even need it for long. I think it just depends on your baby for how the trip will go. They sleep a lot when they're newborns so that's always good. Just plan on stopping more for feedings and diaper changes. I think a 6-hour drive might be a bit difficult but if you're taking frequent breaks and letting LO stretch out a little bit in between, then it should be fine. We'll be driving 2 hours to TO once when she's about 2 months then to NYC (6hours) when she's a little over 3 months. So I was worried about her comfort.</p> <p>On a side note: is the 6 hour trip just a bad idea??? The head cradler is a good option but it might still make her sweat. It absolutely depends on whether or not you have the AC on.
