@ElbieKay: thank you! Too small because of height or weight? I've got a tall 3.5 year old...

@Clementine12: It's been a couple of years, and to be honest I don't remember why I ruled out the Radian. I think it was down to Fllo vs Radian. I really really really wanted to make t three across work, and iirc the Fllo was the absolute narrowest?

The Fllos have been fine for us. They were, however, too small for my big-for-his-age son when he was 4yo, though. My daughters are 2.5 now and right around the middle percentiles for height and weight, and they're still fine in them.

@ElbieKay: can I ask what made you choose the Fllos? Do you like them? Any downside? Worth the money (v a Radian I'm thinking)? We're fitting 3 across in a Subaru outback and will need to buy 2 new seats (hoping to still use the same infant set...) and would love opinions on this!

I have a NextFit Zip in my sedan (Altima) and the sides are REALLY high for my car. I practically have to throw my kid in laying down and then adjust. Aside from that, it's been fine. Alternatively, the Britax Marathon in my husbands car seems to have a lot more room to get him in, but it could also be because his car is a small suv (CRV).

We had a Chicco infant seat, and bought 3 Chicco NextFits when LO outgrew the bucket (mine and DH's car, plus my mom's). I had no complaints about them when they were all we knew (though they are HEAVY), but I have had to replace 2 of them due to my car being hit, and have loved the replacement seats. The Nextfit is nice for babies and young toddlers, but it starts to be a lot of seat as kiddo gets older. Once she turned FF, DD preferred the Graco Slimfit and Safety 1st Grow & Go EX that we had, as she could climb into them more easily and perceived them to be "big kid seats". Were I starting over, I would consider the NextFit if we were skipping a bucket seat from birth, but go with a less bulky seat when purchasing for an older child.

Since your LO is outgrowing the infant seat by height, it is worth paying attention to the max harness height of the seats you are considering. My LO has consistently been around or about the 90th percentile for both height and weight, and our car seat changes have always been driven by her height (outgrowing limits) rather than her weight.

It's a great seat but I agree with others the high sides can make it challenging to load kids in certain vehicles. And the C shape of it can be less comfortable for older kids forward facing. It is relatively compact front to back though.

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

I have a Jeep Wrangler it will be going in - I do wonder if it might be hard to get her into it since it’s not a low vehicle. I think we will try it and see how it goes. We will be taking our first long trip next month (5.5 hours) and I’m thinking of getting it for that trip so she has more room to stretch out. I’m thinking we will go in the evening so that she falls asleep in a dark vehicle since we have only had her in the car for 30 minutes or so since birth (thanks pandemic).

We had and loved the chicco next fit zip. Both kids used it. It was really easy to clean (my older one is puker)
I don't think it took up more room refacing than any other full sized seat (in fact, it was on the smaller side of all seats for front to back size)
My only complaint would be the C-shape curve of the seat. It was great for sleeping on long drives, however the high sides could be an issue depending on your vehicle. We have a lower to the ground hatchback; I had it installed in my dads 4runner once and MAN was that a pain in my butt to lift the kids up and over the sides .
We are now onto the chicco my fit harnessed booster which I reallllly love as well.
This won't affect you now but its not a narrow seat. Fitting two adults plus the next fit will be a challenge depending on your car.

It's not a Chicco, but we got DD a Graco Extend2Fit. It's bulky and heavy, but in general it has been pretty easy to use and seems really comfortable. I like that she'll be able to RF for quite awhile, even though she's super tall for her age.

@MrsJBeeG: we have 2 NextFit zips and are big fans - DD1 got carsick for awhile and it was easy to take apart to wash and easy to install. They are pretty heavy - not great if you have to move the seat a lot. They are pretty big, especially rear facing. We are expecting baby #3 and need to purchase new carseats because we can't do 3 across with 2 nextfits.

We had Chicco keyfits for our twins, but we needed to fit three across when they graduated to convertibles. So, we got Clek Fllos because they are so narrow! Sorry can't help with the Chicco convertibles.

My almost 8 months old is close to outgrowing her infant car seat by her height. Not her weight. I’m studying the next car seat to get her and am
Leaning towards a Chico - a convertible one. We like the NextFit Zip Air Mac Extended Use as it has a higher weight limit for longer use. Does anyone have this and like it? Just curious as these aren’t cheap. We have the Chico key fit infant system
And love it so we were thinking to stay with Chico.

Thanks everyone!
