@t.h.o.u.: Yup, there is not another option - center back it is. It actually won't fit behind the passenger seat and allow room for a passenger in the seat too.

@tinypiglet: I think you are pretty much going to have to put the baby in the middle. I think its either the dog is cramped or the passenger up front is cramped and IMO I would let the dog be cramped rather than myself.

Plus the center position is the safest for a car seat.

FYI for anyone who checks out this thread eventually...we got a peg perego sip 30/30 from a friend whose infant just outgrew it, and the only option is to put it in the center of the back seat. It fits fine there, but hubby is not terribly pleased, as the dog will now have to sit on just 1/3 of the back seat vs. lounging across 2/3rds of it. He has plans to build a kind of platform behind the passenger seat to give the dog more room to lay down....because of course that's the most important issue we're having right now. ;)

My hubby has the same truck !! We have the Graco snug ride and the base is in the middle . The passenger would have to be scooted all the way up if it were on the side so middle is the only option !! Other than that - it fits and is great !

I'm hoping there are some truck-owning bees on here who can help a girl out. We have an F-150 with an extended cab (suicide doors, not a supercab), and we are starting to wonder how we will fit a rear-facing car seat back there. My first thought is to put the car seat in the middle, instead of behind the passenger seat, just so whoever is in the passenger seat won't have their knees in their throat. But, to make matters more complicated, we also have a 70-pound dog, who would ride in the back seat as well, and I'm just not sure that the spot to the right or left of a centered car seat will work for him. (I am also, oh, *slightly* anxious about having the dog - who is honestly mellow as can be - and baby in the same space while traveling. Not to mention the fur everywhere, ugh. Here's hoping baby's not allergic!)

Anyway, I have seen some seemingly more compact car seats that I think would work, maybe? (Combi Coccoro?) Any suggestions from those of you who might have experience with this dilemma, or who have ideas on how we can determine what will work best, without just buying stuff and returning it?
