In an accident, the straps would be taking the load of the baby moving forwards, where in backwards position, the whole back of the seat does the work? However I noticed her carseat (grace my ride) says to only use the padded strap covers in rear facing mode. If I don't use them the straps leave a red mark on her neck and almost cuts if I pull it tight and am not careful. I don't understand why I can't use them? </p>
