@loveisstrange: @PrincessBaby: We had our size4me RF in the back of a Mazda 3, with room for someone in the passenger seat. So it's definitely not huge. It also scored really well, and above some much more expensive seatsin the new consumer reports crash testing. http://carseatblog.com/36420/the-safest-convertible-carseats-new-crash-protection-ratings-and-methods-from-consumer-reports/

As for the price difference, I think it's mainly because the 4ever is supposed to be the only seat you ever buy. So it needs more kinds of testing, longer expiration, different padding to support growing kids, and there's probably a markup because they know you're not coming back for another seat.

We have a graco RF in the back of DH truck (Tacoma but with four doors). It fits in the middle just fine RF but would be really right behind one of the seats.

@PrincessBaby: Im pretty sure it's smaller than the Foonf. I've installed it RFing in both my CR-Vs (98 and 05), a Jetta, and my little C-series Mercedes I had for a while in England, as well as on a plane FF. I can't speak about the back of a truck, to be honest, but I dont think you'd have an issue with the Volvo.

It's also not super heavy. I wore it around the airport in a backpack when we moved back to the US.

@PrincessBaby: The Graco clones are pretty compact front to back. I drive a small car (Nissan Versa) and we have a My Ride 65 RF in it with no problems. It's behind the passenger seat. I have long legs and wasn't crammed at all.

@loveisstrange: Is it gigantic when RF? My husband is crammed into the steering wheel with the Clek Foonf RF in his Z71. And I just ordered my new company car - a Volvo S60 sedan- so I want to make sure that should we ever need to use it ourselves, and also for our nanny in her CRV, that it's not ridiculous shove-you-into-the-wheel huge.

@kiddosc: So there is a major price differential...Is it just bc one can turn into a booster and one can't? Even though this is for the nanny car, I still want it to be a good carseat. So I don't mind paying whatever, but if it's just the difference between turning into a booster vs having to buy an inexpensive booster, I would go with what you guys have.

@kiddosc: @PrincessBaby: I actually super second this recommendation. We have a Frontier in my DH's car but we still use our Graco My Size/Size4Me in my car. C is 38lbs and 42.5" tall and will be 4 in April. She will honestly fit this seat for a good long while still. We RFed her until 2 in it, but we could probably still have her RFing if we wanted. It's a great seat and not super hard on the $$ side.

@winniebee: She's just about 20 lbs at 9 months. But we are using all of our Cleks in our personal vehicles, so we have to buy another for the nanny's car...She does pickup and drop off for DD1 and DD2 rides along.

@PrincessBaby: if you never want to buy another carseat you can look at the Graco 4ever. It will RF, FF, high back booster, and regular booster.

Otherwise, we have a Graco size4me that RF to 40lbs, and will then FF to 65 lbs. The height limits are huge, so they're not really a factor. Then you would only have to buy a booster further down the line, which is relatively cheap.

I've heard good things about the Graco clones - size4me, mysize, contender, and there's 2 more names. I forget!

For nanny seats we've been using the Cosco. It's really cheap, but still has pretty good ratings and is easy to get in and out when needed. The Eddie Bauer seat at Target is a slightly upgraded version.

We have Diono Radian RXT which turns into a belted booster, and I love it, but it juts out quite a bit while RF. so in our nannys car, DS1 is in the Diono radian forward facing (he is 3.5) and DS2 is in his old britax boulevard RF.

I've read great things about that seat though.

LO2 has been using the infant Maxi Cosi Mico in the nanny's car. She is ready for a convertible in the nanny's car as she is at the weight limit. She has already been using a Foonf RF in our cars.

I love the Foonf, but I know there are other options out there that maybe can be used longer, turn into a booster, etc. Plus, the Foonf RF is gigantic, let's be honest, and I think in our nanny's CRV, to ask her to have that in her car permanently, is just too much.

You guys had recommended this Britax for DD1 for the nanny car that we've been really happy with:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OTXUO2S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

I had assumed we'd just get the same one for DD2, but it isn't okay until 24 lbs and I just realized it can't RF. So we can't get the same one.

Is there another recommendation you guys can make? Anything that turns into a booster later, etc that starts at 20 lbs?

I actually found this one, that seems to fit the bill:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011URFRE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

But I've never spent so little on a car seat and I can't really tell why it's so cheap, like what bells and whistles is it lacking and is it enough to matter? Any one have this one?
