Check out seabands! My parents claim I used to be car sick after only 15 minutes or so in the car - my mom used to travel everywhere with multiple changes of clothes and a bucket. After starting to use seabands I never had anymore issues.

My DD had terrible car sickness she once threw up 9 times in a trip from NYC to Maine. When she turned 2 the doc gave us the go ahead to give her Dramamine for kids. We give her half a pill before trips. It has been life changing. We haven't figured out a solution for short cab rides etc though, er just try to have Ziploc bags and wipes on hand.

@mrbee: LO does, but only if she is watching a movie or playing a game on the iPad. If we secure the tablet to the seat back, she doesn't get sick.

I can get car sick to this day. I get sick even in the passenger seat sometimes Which is why I prefer to be the one driving. That's why I try to drive as steady as possible. My husband can be heavy footed on the pedals (kind of like a cab driver) and that jerking motion can get me sick. Also, in windy roads, I always make sure I slow down. My son hasn't really thrown up in the car but he does get car sick. so sadly, he can't really read or watch things in the car on long rides. We also make sure to take frequent stops so everyone can get fresh air. Oh and i limit the eating and snacks before a long ride. I made the mistake of giving my daughter too much snacks on a flight once.

I had horrible motion sickness as a child. I eventually outgrew it (around 12 or so). Until she is able to ride in the front seat, I'd put her in the middle seat facing forward and looking at the road. Fresh air with windows open also minimized the sickness. Other than that, just being prepared for the inevitable (bags, wipes, etc). I found sour candy to help so much with my morning sickness (which felt so similar to motion sickness) that I wonder if it wouldn't help in the car too. Maybe some green apple jolly ranchers or similar?

Not my LO (yet) but I have pretty bad motion sickness. Cars, airplanes, and especially busses and boats. It started when I was a kid and has gotten progressively worse. Dramamine has always helped a bit, but honestly nothing really makes it better in cars except being in the front seat. When I was a kid I just toughed it out and puked a lot. My mom always kept zip locks in the back of the car to puke into (plus paper towels and wet wipes). We still drove to every vacation. Just one of those things!

Has anyone tried Dramamine for kids? Can be used from age 2.

DS wasn't car sick but often vomited in the car. Ginger pills/chews helped a little. Mostly we just stocked up on towels. We would wrap one around him(after buckling in), then remove it and place the next one as needed.

Subscribing. My DS has thrown up twice in airplanes and last week we rented a car and he said he didn't feel good, but he didn't get sick. I'm thinking about just giving him half a Dramamine the next time we travel.

DS does and always has! He just did this week actually but after the car ride, inside of a restaurant :bummed:

The ped said it would get better with age. It has. He only gets sick maybe once every six months or so? But at 3 years old, it was definitely the worst. He'd get sick once a week at least. Now that he's older, he can sense when he feels sick, we'll give him a bag (we always carry diaper genie to go bags) and he'll catch it. Blah.

Wondering how common this is! My daughter threw up three times during a 3 hour road trip a few days ago. It would've been more, but she fell asleep after a while thank goodness. We got her dramamine for the return trip, and I think it really helped as she didn't throw up. That said, she did sleep a lot of the way so it's hard to say for sure.

She threw up during an 8 hour road trip a few years ago, so I guess she officially gets car sick! Which is probably my fault, since I also get car sick.

Anyone else deal with car sickness with their kid? So far, we've tried dramamine and sea bands... anything else work for you?
