To more directly answer your question, I recently traveled with my 3 year old and (large, 30 pound) 15 month old. It was great for the 3 year old. It was non-ideal, but functional for the 15 month old. I had to make sure it was super snug to keep him from slipping down and out of it. He spent more of the flight in my arms but was in CARES for take off and landing. I also would not recommend for an 11 month old.

@DesertDreams88: i saw it in person at a baby show and i wouldn't use it for an infant. i was thinking that maybe i would start using it for my almost 4 year old if we traveled more!

@DesertDreams88: my kid would never nap in the car seat! He's so weird. I would have ended up with the car seat in an empty seat while holding the same bizarre position to keep him asleep in arms. He's a big boy too!

@junebugsmama: we brought him as a lap infant back in month 5 and I'm definitely not opposed to it for younger babies, but he is just crazy energetic and I feel the need to have him strapped down :-) also if he's in his car seat, is much more likely that he'll take a nap, and since we'll be traveling for about 15 hours total, I definitely need some naps to happen... :-)

@DesertDreams88: I got a Traveling Toddler carseat strap and it's been a lifesaver for bringing the carseat. You use it along with the LATCH straps to attach the seat to your carryon and roll it along; I've also attached it to a backpack for a truly hands-free way to lug it along.

@DesertDreams88: I know this is unpopular but have only brought my baby as a lap infant and the few times we ended up with a surprise empty seat, it was really nice to just have some empty space. I truly don't know if I will bring my seat all the way on the plane on my next flight (he's almost two). I have always checked it with my other luggage, it's a cheap cosco seat. Super light but every item I carry through the airport is one more thing to worry about! My baby hates the car seat too so that helps me decision.

Every thing I've read about says it really only fits children on the larger end of it's weight limit. It does nothing to re position the lap belt, so small toddlers, and especially an 11 month old, can easily slip right under it.

We have a CARES and I can't imagine it will work for baby that young. It's not a 5 point harness so there is nothing between their legs to hold them in place and prevent them from sliding down.

Also, although it sucks carrying a car seat through the airport, I love using it during the flight. It's so so much easier to have a baby securely strapped in like he/she is used and having your hands (and arms) completely free.

No experience, but I can't imagine getting an 11 month old to sit upright in a seat for a whole flight since he's used to reclining in his carseat.

We are traveling for Christmas across the country by plane. We bought my infant his own seat, and planned to bring a travel car seat for the plane rides and car rides while we're there for 10 days. More and more I don't want to bring the travel seat on the plane, though it's light (the Evenflo one). I'd rather order it and have it delivered to my parents house, and keep it there for any visits. I was looking into the Cares Harness. My child will be 11 months old, 22-23lbs, and 30in, so the minimum requirements. Any experience with the harness, especially this young?
