I would suggest a wrap or a mei tai - bit of a learning curve but endlessly adjustable to fit every body type, and much more breathable than a structured carrier.

I was going to suggest a ring sling too!

What about a ring sling? We found that useful and it can adjust as he gets better head control. Plus light to carry and can use for shade in the stroller. Can still get warm depending on the material and weather but that's any carrier I think.

Are you comfortable with wrapping? I'm not an expert on small babies but you might want to try a short woven wrap (or even a gauze wrap) or maybe a ring sling. With the sling you can use the tail and tuck it into the top rail for extra head support.

I'm fairly short, large, and busty and I've liked my ring sling the best for hot days. But I've also heard putting a cooling towel between you and baby and carrying a parasol helps for hot days and babywearing.

I generally don't love the Baby Bjorn, but while my DD was under10 lbs, she liked it (legs in). We had a mesh version which helped a lot. I also really liked the k'tan ubtil she hit about the same size (10 lbs-ish); I carried her in the kangaroo hold bc I felt legs out was too much stretching for her. I didn't have the mesh version but figure it would have to be cooler!

I got a k'tan active, which is all mesh. I haven't used it outside yet (I'm in TX, so brutally hot) but it's worked well inside so far!

I'm thinking about getting a Lillebaby with the mesh panel for when she's bigger and I need more support.

If you are comfortable wrapping a solly wrap might be a good option. Otherwise TULA has a new carrier that grows with the child so you don't need an infant insert (baby needs to be 7lbs, don't know if R is there yet?). It even comes with a mesh panel version so that should make it more breathable. Waist size goes up to 56"...

Hey! Can anyone recommend a carrier for a baby who is small? I'm chunky, and don't want to die of heat stroke this summer but want to carry him more. Something that helps with head support would be ideal. He doesn't seem to like our ergo.
