I love my ergo performance (lightest because we live in FL) but it is stiffer. It's the only way I get grocery shopping done

I love the Ergo, it's an easy carrier to master, which was important to me.

I've not yet tried back carries, but will do on this next trip.

@mrsjazz: Sure!
I strap him in facing me like normal. Then I lean forward in order to maneuver him to my right side (if you're feeding on the right side obviously), I kind of swing him a little bit while leaning forward. I do have to loosen the strap on the right side to make the switch. I usually have to pull the beco down on my waist a little as well to get him low enough. It would definitely be easier if you have smaller breasts - I have G's and I can do it, but if I was any bigger I'm not sure I could.
Then, while leaning forward, I get him to latch on. Once he's latched, I can stand up straight and tighten/adjust as needed. You'll learn after a few tries. I hadn't tried til he was about 11.5 lbs.
This is the youtube video that helped me figure it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC9RoR7xxNs&feature=plcp It's not the EXACT same carrier, it's the butterfly instead of the gemini so it's a little different, but kind of the same concept. I hope you can figure it out! It has made my life so much easier!
ETA: found another video :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCqbkvpwzyY&feature=plcp

I have both. The Bjorn started to hurt my back at about 11lbs. That's a young baby! I like the ergo a lot for comfort, however, several friends have the Beco Gemini and the LOVE it. If I had to do it all over again, I would get the Gemini. It is as ergonomically correct as the ergo, but you can also do outward facing (my baby loved outward facing at first). For short walks through the grocery store, etc. I just use a pocket sling.

We have the Bjorn comfort carrier. It is a lot more supportive than the others because of the hip belt. I'm glad we had it because Baby Y loved to face out. In, not so much.

@skibobrown:
How do you like the sport overall? I like that it's suppose to be breathable since alot of people's complaint about carriers is how much the baby and you sweat.

@ohapostrophe: @Coco Bee:
I do like that with the Beco you can face outwards. I think bb M will like that.

Hopefully I can find a store locally that carries both so I can try them out.

I have the Ergo solely b/c we have lots of friends who swear by it. So far I like it a lot. I use it with the infant insert, and our daughter is always very calm when she's in it. She often sleeps in the ergo, but even when she is awake in it she pretty much never fusses. (FYI, we have the Ergo sport b/c we're hoping to do some hiking with the Ergo once DD gets a little older. )

I had a Baby Bjorn Active when DS was just born, and by the time he was 15 pounds (2months - he's big) it was killing my back and shoulders. I only carried him facing in and I'm an active person. I'm tall and in good shape, so I really didn't expect it to hurt as much.

I tried the Becco Gemini and Butterfly II from a local store and liked them both, but I ended up going with a Boba. I absolutely love it.

I think the only Baby Bjorn I would consider is the Comfort Carrier, which is made much more like an Ergo with the waist belt. It is more expensive though, so it doesn't seem worth it, unless you found it for like 50% off.

@Mrs. Jacks: Ooh that would be great!

I have the Beco Gemini SSC and I love it. I chose this one over the Ergo because you can face the baby in and out, on your back and on your hip. I have also learned how to breastfeed in it - saves soo much time and effort! I cook dinner, while he's in the carrier eating. It's a perfect arrangement really.

I had learned about the potential hip/spine development problems associated with the baby Bjorn so I stayed far away. Plus, it is really hard on a mom's back.

So I voted other just because I like my Beco. But if it was between the Ergo or Bjorn, I'd say Ergo.

Starting to think more about carriers now.

What is your opinion on the Ergo vs the Baby Bjorn. I have heard that there are hip issues with the Bjorn. But I have also heard that when they're older some prefer the Bjorn for convenience sake.

Do you have either? If not, which one and why as oppose to these two?

I'm looking at the Ergo Sport or the Baby Bjorn Synergy.

Thanks!
