SO glad to hear that no-one here has had any issues. Out of hundreds of reviews, there were a handful that reported the rash, so not too bad..

I'm looking for as light as possible since I have no arm strength, so it sounds like the keyfit is a better option.
I think I will go to BRU and check them out one more time.

We ultimately chose the B Safe because we wanted it to match and fit into our Britax Agile. Also, I found it on MANY "top safety rated" lists. It's a *bit* on the heavy side but most safe seats are. And the stroller is the lightest thing ever (14lb) so as a set its awesome.

@gracecat: this. The only drawback I have with it is that the dang harness is a pain to adjust....EASY but annoying.
We never had painful or smacking issues...it's just that it gets confusing because there are so many different heights and you need to always make sure things don't get tangled....but it's not a deal breaker by any means.

We haven't used ours yet bc our twin girls don't arrive until November but we also got the Chicco KeyFit. We decided on the KeyFit after reading consumer reports details.

We have the B Safe and haven't had any issues with the buckles. LO does get hot in it but I think that happens with most car seats.

I've never heard of that issue. We went for the Keyfit 30 because tons of our friends and family have it and we haven't heard a single complaint. Everyone loves it.

I've heard that the material on the Chicco keyfit doesn't breathe very well and can get very warm, which might explain the heat rash that's been reported? We have the keyfit and haven't used it yet, but it gets great reviews for safety and ease of installation. The britax also is supposed to be great, although I"ve heard it's heavy.

We have the Keyfit and I've never heard of that issue. We've had no problems, and really love the seat. We picked it because it was rated #1 on just about every list out there.

We have the Keyfit 30 and have had no issues with any kind of allergic reactions or anything else. I had actually never heard of that until now. I haven't used the other brand but we're happy with our Keyfit.

Oh I never heard of that! I hope our daughter is ok with it because we got the Chicco key fit 30. We decided against the Briax because the buckles on the harness were super difficult to undo and we kept smacking our hands against the carseat as we undid the harness. Really really stiff buckles, such that I was afraid we would end up smacking the baby!

After researching car seats and checking them out in person at BRU, SO and I decided on the Graco Snugride 30. It had solid ratings, didn't weigh too much & wasn't too expensive so we added it to our registry.

I just received my first registry gift (from my dad) and it was the car seat!

After taking it out of the box, and carrying it around the house a little, I realized it was painful to carry. It's hard to describe, but the handle isn't one rounded piece - It has a deep groove in the back, so unless you're carrying exactly in the center, it hurts the palm of my hand.

Anyway, think we are going to return it!

I looked at Target yesterday, and the Britax - B-Safe and the Chicco Keyfit have solid handles.

I initially decided against the Keyfit because lot's of reviews on Amazon state that their children have allergic reactions to the flame retardant chemical on the fabric or their children get heat rash.
I obviously don't want this to happen to our LO but how likely is this? Has anyone experienced this?

Any other recommendations?
